Waterless Wash: How many towels do you go through?

I can go through 15 microfiber towels (16x16) during a Waterless wash. Add three more if I follow up with a QD.

Does this seem excessive? My goal is to never use the same surface of the towel twice. Further, where the car has visible dirt, I will roll the towel as I clean and thus constantly keep a "new" section of towel exposed to the paint. The eats up the towels quick!

Depends on the size of the vehicle and how dirty it is..With me I can do my car a grange queen with for to six towels, turning them frequently. QD is two at most, the cars clean at that point

Honestly depends, but on average I`d say 15-20. I`m anal, and I have tons of towels, might as well use them.

I`m with Beemer Boy! Depends heavily on the size of the vehicle (and my personal vehicles go from a Fiat 500 to a Dodge Ram pickup). A light job on the Fiat would go 4-6. On the truck? 10-12.

Looks like I`m not alone. My car is a coupe. Like the saying goes: it`s easier to do laundry than correct paint. I count 11 panels on my car so at the minimum on a mostly clean car, I`d use 11, but usually it`s more.

It really depends how dirty the car is. My method is to always pressure wash a car before doing a rinseless wash. I don`t see why I would wipe off any dirt I could rinse off.

Yes it takes more time, wastes water, and defeats the purpose...blah..blah...blah...

But, after that it takes me 3 or 4 towels to do a GDWM to the whole car. Now, guys that are using 15 towels... If each towel has 8 sides - that means your using 120 sides?????

I use all 8 sides....but I spray the panel down with waterless so it`s plenty wet with wash even on side 8. This works for me. My cars have no marring.

I have a small vert, use about 8 towels. Then I use more towels for door jambs, etc. I`m doing a load of laundry either way, so I might as well not spare the towels.

Well said! Use `em if ya got `em.

I think I would use many less towels if I used all edgeless. I am so anal about tucking in the edges that I don`t get a full 8 sides of use.

    This was interesting read.

I did a hybrid 2 bucket wash mixed with GDWM and Optimum NR. Took a damn long time, as the car was pretty filthy, hence the 2 bucket part of it.

I used about 4 gal of distilled water, two wash mitts, and roughly 4-5 MF towels (with 2 waffle weaves to dry).

Results were great. But I wouldn`t want to do that again. I`ll stick to GDWM on a less soiled car in the future!

Oh, and this was for a 2014 Kia Sorento.

This is why i never do waterless, just my opin, but i also think it microscratches long term and uses too much product. I use a garry dean rinseless technique, duragloss rinseless and 5-6 towels. Easy peasy....

    Old habits die hard...........

I use 2 PB dreadlock wash mitts for rinseless

    Never had a problem

I find myself doing less and less waterless washes except at car shows. Then I just grab a ton of micro, and whatever I use, I use. I don`t count em

Yeah that`s my favorite, but I`ve been getting a few DI Edgeless towels lately and they`re great and priced right. I`ve said before that PB needs an Edgeless towel in their lineup.
