Water tank size HELP!!

Hello all,

Im in the market for a water tank for my mobile detailing business.. I went to a local manufacturer and they gave me an option on gallons. I was also warned about going too big and how it can affect the vehicle as far as swaying, gas, suspension, etc, just the obvious I guess you can say.

Well for all peeps with experience what would be the best size as far as gallons. They have 15gallons, 25, and 50 that I was looking at. I do probably a wash or two a day and Im concern about how much space it would take up on the bed of the truck and If the water would would last after 2 or 3 washes.

Do you guys think a 25 gallon tank would be okay???? The only reason Im trying to stay away the 50 gallon is because of the size of the tank but if 50 is ideal I kinda have no choice.

Atleast 50 gallons. I would look for a 80-100 gallon tank.

I'm tempted to get a 100 gallon tank but I just don't know how my chevy s10 long bed with only 4 cyl would take it. I know its gonna kill my gas mileage but I'm concerned about how it will drive, she might go slower than she is going now; imagine a 4 cyl long bed pulling an extra hundred pounds on the bed, THAT IS SLOWWW..

100 gal water tank in over 800lbs

Go with 50, use it to make enough money to buy a trailer, then you can upgrade. Your S-10 will have no problem pulling a trailer with 100gal tank and all the fixins. More than likely you'll get out working and have more work than expected.

I have a 250 gallon tank because I got a good deal on it but haven't put much more that 65 gallons in there due to the weight. 65 gallons would be plenty of water to wash several cars.

FYI 100 gallons is ALOT more then 100lbs 1 gallon of water is just over 8lbs.

If you can afford it, go for the 100 gallon tank -- you don't have to fill it all the way (half is good). Then as you grow, it will acomodate. Or, if you're on a low budget get a 50 gallon plastic drum (used??). Layed on it's side (and anchored securely) one of the bungholes can be tapped with a 3/4" hose bib, the other used to fill the tank and as a vent.
