clean cars w/ body wraps?

One of the local dentists who always does really cool things for his employees during Christmas leased 9 Chevy HHRs for all his employees to drive as long as they worked for him. The HHRs are black, but he got his company logo wrapped on the entire vehicle. The people who did it for him said not to wax it because of all the small holes within the wrap. Has anyone every washed a car w/ a wrap, and do you think something like Meg Final Touch detail spray would be okay to use to keep it somewhat shiny and slick w/o messing up the holes? I'll get to wash all 9 twice a month and also the two dentist's Denali. Thanks!

I'd ask the dentist who did the wraps and find out what they recommend, that can be tricky if there are little holes to watch out for. As for any QD spray I would not think that there would be any problem with it, try an area.

Looking at a few sites they make no mention of waxing just washing and not using pressure. I think that these are wax free wraps from what I am seeing on line

I would probably only use water soluable products so that they don't get stuck in the wrap.

We have a wrapped van in are fleet at work and it is a matte finish and we just wash it with ss&s, nothing to really shine up.

Now that is a cool dentist, yeh he's obviously doing it for business as well (9 leases, nice write off right there so he's smart too lol), just cool that he did that for the employees to....though he could have just been thinking of the avertisiments/write off

All the wrap is, is perferated vynil thats been printed on. Now i can't tell you if after it was printed on it was clear coated or not. That depends on who did it and their process. It Might make a differnce when using a cleaner/wax type of product, could possible smear the ink. I know i've waxed over printed vynil before and it does no harm. But as far as machine usage i would not suggest that.

I wouldn't use a pressure washer or anything besides soap and water on it. Try not to use brushes or stiff bug sponges either. That stuff is delicate. The slight bump will take the ink right off. I know from experince on that one lol, but that was also with it not cleared. Clear makes the differnce on how gentle you have to be with it.

ALso the lifespan of them wrap are not long in certain areas. The sun causes the ink to fade. Again if they are cleared, the ink will last longer but if its not the sun will take its toll quickly. This could be to your advantage for upselling a wax every 6 weeks or something. To get the most out of the ink.

Keep in mind that most modern wraps are UV coated (they have a clear vinyl film over the inked layer) however, they are quite suseptable to surface scratching (marring) and many petroleum based products will yellow the vinyl over time. I'll bet the small holes within the wrap are only on the window areas. I've had good results using Brillianize.
