vertical tank mount?

How would I mount a tank like this in a trailer?

110 gallon vertical Poly Water Tank......
I have a plan if I could figure out how to mount one of these things....

I'm just thinking out loud here. I do not have any experience with this, nor am I a design engineer.

If you positioned the tank up against the front wall, you could use steel straping similar to safety strapping for a water heater. However, this would make your rig extremely tongue heavy for your tow vehicle. If positioned slightly forward of the axle you could run stabilizer bars / bracing between the sidewalls, and fasten to that. Perhaps, even make some storage or shelving in conjunction with the additional bracing.

Just my 2 cents. Hope you can come up with something that will work for you. If I may ask, where did you find the vertical tank? Seems like a great idea to save floor space.

I found them online, and have not purchased one yet. I have yet to find one local. I would even drive and hour and a half if I have to, to find one.

Shipping on one is around $120, so i am really trying to avoid that.

The weight of that thing you probl. could just chain it down but just remember at 8lbs a gal. that tank will be almost half ton keep that in mind too...

That sounds like something i would do also.

Makae sure you center mount the tank to. Seeing how its a verticle tank i bet you're thinking about throwing it in the corner. You'll end up burning some tires up.

It could be mounted with straps like those used in securing water heaters in earthquake zones, however this tank may not be designed to withstand the strapping pressure (it may collapse)*. As for mounting it all the way up front, you will end up with an unsafe, tongue weighted trailer -- tongue weight, if I remember right, should be aprox 1/10 of the total trailer weight.

What are the dimensions (is it tall or is it squat)
I would use a tray and collar system. A lipped tray for the bottom (which you bolt to the bed) and a collar for the top with some loops so you can strap it down to the deck with some eye bolts. kinda like this



Check with a local fabrication shop if you can't find something already manufactured. They should be able to do itpretty cheap and quick (with in a day or 2).

Definately keep it up by the head board (one less direction that it can move). As for the weight, it will continually drop as you are using it, unless you just give joy rides to 900 lbs of water
Just make sure that you position the tank over the ribs or have extra put on to support the weight.
