Do you name the levels of your service? - 08-03-2005, 01:40 PM

Just wondered if you name the levels of your service such as the carwash did in this article?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20050803...RpBHNlYwM3NTc-

Nothing personal, but I doubt I'd want a handjob from any of you guys. :hurl

If the link didnt work...here ya go:

LONDON (AFP) - A car wash called Scrubbers was reprimanded by advertising watchdogs in Britain for circulating a leaflet that boasts "the best handjob in town".

Services offered by Scrubbers, based in Luton, northwest of London include an "In 'n' Out and a Polish Off", "The Quickie," "The Full Monty" and a "Personal Service".

The eye-popping phrases appeared in a leaflet -- intended for distribution on windshields of vehicles in company parking lots -- illustrated with Scrubbers' logo: a cartoon of a car-washing buxom blonde.

The Advertising Standards Agency, upholding a complaint from a member of the public who got the leaflet at home, said it was "likely to cause serious or widespread offence and was inappropriate to be viewed by children".

It urged Scrubbers -- where "handjob" means a manual car wash -- to take more care when distributing its leaflets.

Maureen Gallagher, from Scrubbers, disagreed with the ruling, saying "you could see a whole of a lot worse" on the upper racks of newsstands where adult magazines are displayed.

"Some people are very small-minded and they can't take these things in fun, which is what the intention was."

Here's a perspective. Although they were being somewhat lude in their way of naming things they did succeed in getting their name out. If you think about it the story was on Yahoo news, it must have also ran at least somewhere in a local newspaper. If I was a newspaper arranger who was trying to drum up some business where would I put that story? The front page, or at least as a grabber on the front with the story a few pages back. If the name of my business was on the front page of any paper without me having to pay for it than any money coming in would be 100% profit (advertising-wise).

Yes, my operation is called Diamond Shine Detail, thus the packages are called so accordingly- Not all are named after diamonds but they are simple-

the 100% hand wash

Full Detail: complete interior and exterior

The Diamond Detail: Full + clay and 3 step polish

Try to tie it in to the name of your operartion.

I have two, a full detail bumper to bumper or a wash and wax. The later of the two is only preformed on cars that have had my full detail.

I've found that if you offer to much to customers they will pick the cheapest route and help you in wasting your time & making less money.

In the winter I will offer inside only details, just to make a few bucks but I really don't like doing them

I only offer one. I wash, start claying (I quit if I dont pull anything from the paint on 1/2 of the hood), paint correction, followed by and AIO as a last step product. If I have have time a coat of Nattys. My wife does the interiors. I dont do wash and washes. People just compare prices so I dont give them aa choice. Just havnt had time since late summer to do any either. This thread is 5 years old!!!!

I offer an express detail which is a basic wash including bug remover and tire/wheel cleaner, tire dressing and vacume. Full detail which is the most popular, and a VIP detail which involves removing seats and wheels, paint correction, engine and undercarriage, touch ups if needed, glass polish, etc. However this is expensive and I don't do many like this unless its for a dealership.

The Basic - The standard wash and interior clean up.
The Presidential - Single stage correction
The Holy Grail - Full correction and detail
