Here's my shop...just the garage of my parents house. I don't have a business, I just detail for fun, for my parents, neighbors and family. We finally sold the jetski so there is room to move the other junk to the side so we have enough room to pull my truck into the garage. We moved into this house in June 05 and as you can see, my parents have a lot of junk they don't want to part with or don't know what to do with. As big as the house is, there isn't much storage space so my mom keeps her sewing, pictures and other stuff in the garage. We aren't allowed to have a shed or anything outside so all the yard tools and equipment have to stay in the garage. They had originally told us that we could have a 4 foot extentsion on the garage but then came back and told us we couldn't. If we had that, there wouldn't be a lot more room for the yard tools and storage racks for my moms junk. Here are a few pics of the garage and where I keep my detailing supplies.

I'm hoping to get it more organized soon. If you can see, we have all our bikes on the floor. I would like to get them hung up on the ceiling but the ceiling is 12 feet tall and I don't know if I can find a bracket that hangs down far enough that you wouldn't have to get on a ladder to get the bikes down. On one wall we have a fridge and a full stand up freezer that I am hoping will die soon to make a little more room. I would also like to put up some more wire shelving on the wall to get some stuff off the storage racks on the left. The main problem is my dad won't get rid of anything. He insists on keeping 3 leaf blowers, 2 weedeaters, 2 lawnmowers and 2 fertlizer spreaders. my parents also think its necessary to have like 16 beach chairs for when family comes down to visit. We also have one whole section of wire shelving of Hess Trucks that my dad has collected for over 25 years. He thinks they will be worth a lot of money one day but even if they were, he couldn't part with them. Everything in the garage just looks cluttered. I can't wait to get my own place because I am NEVER going to be cluttered like this, especially the garage. I want one of those garages that looks clean.....painted floor, painted walls with nice car pics/posters, matching cabinets and a nice rolling toolchest with room to work/detail.

That's a real nice cabinet!! I've seen a similar one at Lowe's and drooled over it many times. There's just not room for it in my garage though and I already have built in shelves that the prior owner installed. I really like the shelves on the door. As you've done with yours it's a great place for putting spray bottles. I also like that it locks up. Keep your hands of the detailing stuff!!

Looks like the garage of (almost) every house in my neighborhood! Why is it that people protect $11 of crap but keep $80,000 worth of (two new ones) cars out in the elements?

If we could just break the mentality that cars are disposable and that only "poor" people have a car more than four years old, detailing would be even more in demand.

I know a detailer wouldn't leave all that over spray on the door unless they were planning to paint it.

I've seen them at Sam's Club or Costco. I think they are made by Seville Classics.
