I, for one, would like to know what ShineShop thinks are bad practices that are recommended here. NOT because I want to refute them, but because I don`t want to DO them. Please don`t post to this thread if you can`t approach this like adults.

I`m with you Mike. I am genuinely interested too, I know not all the advice given here is good, but most of the questionable content gets challenged fairly quickly, or so I thought!
Seriously Shineshop.. what did you have in mind when you were talking about bad practices being recommended in Autopia?

In the "Autopia Needs to be Reformed" thread, ShineShop stated that there were known bad practices that were promoted here, but he wouldn`t elaborate because it always resulted in a flame war. I was hoping, if we could keep it civil, that he would tell us about it.
what page?

I think it was his use of the word "terrifying" that really caught my attention. I`d love to hear some more detailed information on this; I`m always looking to improve my techniques. However, based on the fact that he hasn`t posted here in this thread yet, I don`t think he wants to get involved in the type of discussion that this would probably end up being.

The only thread/topic I can remember that resulted in a heated debate involving ShineShop was the water reclamation issue.

I remember that thread. I can certainly see his point from a strictly economic standpoint there because it gives someone like me who uses QEW and therefore exempt from reclaiming water (if you use 2 or more gallons to wash, you must have a reclaimation mat) a lower cost of operating, although the cost breakdown between mobile and fixed locations aren`t really comparible anyway.

I`d certainly be interested in what Scott has to say though, he is one of the most knowledgable and professional people in the detailing business.
Hang on, guys. I started this thread because of comments ShineShop made in the "Autopia Needs To Be Reformed" thread, whatever water reclamation topic you are talking about is not related (as far as I know).
Why beat a dead horse. The statement made by ShineShop probably has no merit and was probably posted to see if it would get a response. Let it die until author comes out of the shadows and explains him/her self. :nixweiss

Sorry for not responding to your question sooner but like I said in the post in question - I don`t frequent this forum as much as I used to AND have had trouble having the page loading for some reason lately.
I will state flatly that I will not be drawn into a flame war on this thread so if that is anyone`s intention - don`t bother as I will not respond. I realize that people on this board are passionate about the products and techniques they use and am not slagging anyone in particular so no one here should take anything I say personally. That being said, I am off to Thanksgiving dinner so I will try and find a few minutes later today to try and explain exactly what I was talking about and cite specific examples.

That is exactly the kind of statement that precludes most of the industry leaders from coming here and sharing the wealth of information they have to share.
The industry leaders unfortunately were banned here and elsewhere

I know a few that have been banned and I think the important thing to ask is why? Arrogant behaviour? Misinformation? Self serving promotion of their business interests? Is it possible that some people have been banned because they did not "go with the flow" about product usage or procedures that contradict what the powers that be or forum sponsors promoted?
