I don't use the pads you speak of, so I can't comment on those in particular.... As for running the machine at 1500...Well, yes 1200 - 1500 (I prefer 1200) is ok for working the polish into the paint, but your final passes should be in the 800-1000 range

The polish should also be spread at low speed(500-700) or your going to sling that crap everywhere

As for the polish turning gummy..Sounds like your not letting it work long enough and possibly using to much product

The paint on that Aerostar bumper...Be carefull when polishing these rubber/plastic bumpers. The bumpers are prepped differentally then metal. Causing the paint to twist if your not carefull

Sorry, I just responded. I'm a noob here. Maybe someone from Autogeek can chime in

Possibly using too much polish?

Do the M105 directions say to prime with water?

Was the paint single stage and badly oxidized on either test bed?

I don't believe in grit guards.

Do the M105 directions say to prime with water? no that something i read here. it says mist on m34-fi.
the paint was oxidized, and yes i feel i was using too much polish..because it was gumming up so quick i waswiping off then adding more compound to another section.

thanks for ur responses

I'd try the M105 without misting with water and use less polish. If you're pulling a lot of oxidation off, you could change pads very often.
