Porter Cable 7424 maintenance? - 06-10-2009, 10:22 AM

Hi Guys. I've had my PC7424 for about 3 months now and I noticed that it's starting to have too much vibration as if it didn't have a counter weight on. Before, I installed a 6" counter weight and it ran smooth with a 6.5" LC CSS pads. I made sure now that the counter is properly secured and it is but I still get heavy vibration after 3 minutes of using the PC. I just bought a antiv-ibration gloves to lessen the pain to my hand caused by the vibration.
Is there some type of maintenance kit to make the PC run smooth again? Thanks!

Since you aren't getting much response, I'll thwough out what little I know.
1. The owner's manual says the unit has enough grease to last the life of the tool. That could be good or bad.
2. They do recommend having it serviced by a service agency at the 100 hour mark.
3. An owner's manual is available from DeWalt-Porter Cable if you have lost yours.
4. My unit has not been serviced in the 6+ years I have owned it.
5. Mine has never been smooth, but it isn't difficult to use even with the vibration.
6. If yours has changed in the vibration level, it might be worth taking it to a service facility to have it checked. At the time I purchased mine, they carried a 1 year warranty.
