flex pad setup? - 06-05-2009, 10:27 AM

ok, i don't yet own a flex. but was wondering what pads everyone is using with them?

I was intrested in the edge system, but I really like the texture of megs polishing pad. I guess i'm just so use to it I don't know.

are the 6" pad a good size for polishing with the flex? I believe the pad i use is the 8006 yellow.

The Meguiar's 6.5" and 7" pads work perfect with the Flex 3401.

The CCS 6.5" also work perfect. My current favorites are the Lake Country 7" Kompressors, but I've used them all and you can't go wrong either way. I did notice that the LC yellow cutting pads seem to cut more than the Meg's cutting pads - the burgundy cutting pads seem to be more like an LC orange in terms of cut.

Not to sway business from a site supporter (because AG is a great place to do business with), but when I bought my package I Emailed Troy (DC's owner) and he took the time to make me a "custom" package deal and managed to beat the lowest price I found anywhere on the net. Might be worth your time to at least give him a shot at getting you a package deal together.

I love the CCS pads, however those are the only pads I have. Well I tried the cobra cross groove (?) white polishing pad in the past, but still favor the CCS pads.

the only CCS i see are the one with dots or proper name Collapsed Cell Structure pads.

do they sell plain flat pads? I may have to try the new 7" megs pads with the flex.

I am sure I answered the same question several days ago. AG sells flat pads. Troy did not carry them a few weeks ago.

I was wondering if anyone has used the black CCS pads with the flex.

It seems to me to not have enough stucture, or to be a little to soft.

The grey pads are supposed to be soft as they are designed to finish and apply waxes. It is my understanding that the Flex works better with the CCS or Cross cut pads because of the extra air that gets under the pad while polishing. I have had my flex for about a month now and I have only used CCS pads with it. They seem to really work well.
