where to buy halogen light stands for paint correction ?

seen some nice bright good quality lighting stands various people have and i need something relatively inexpensive and compact as i have a divided garage and minimal room, must be slightly extendable vertically for different heights as well as the lights able to be adjusted on different angles ...

where can i find one ????

I got mine from Lowes as well. From what I remember, they weren't too expensive.

I have one that I got at Lowe's and one that I think came from wal Mart the one from Lowe's is not as sturdy built but it is made so you can take the light bar off and sit it on the floor.

The other one which I like better has a switch on each light so you can use just one light if you want and it is much more sturdy

Try to buy where they have one set up so you can see what it really is rather than just a picture on the box.

One other thing to watch for some advertise 500 watt but they are just 250 per light for a total of 500 watts but some are 500 watt per light for a total of 1000 watts the later is what you want for detailing.

I think these are a must for polishing they will make swirls stand out much better than other lighting.

I have a combination of halogen fluorescent and incandescent flood lights that focus a total of 8000 watts on the car and the portable light stands can be moved from one side to the other making them ideal.

I would suggest steering clear of the $44 husky model from home depot (husky) as they are nice looking but the quick clamps do not work well and the lights do not stay at the angle that you want them to stay at.

Lowe's is the place I got mine.Went with a set for $70 bucks and 5 minutes after the first plug in the outside lens shattered.Took them back the next day got the 45 dollar set same wattage and not a problem.Great customer service also.

I got my halogens at Wally World. Two halogen lights and an adjustable stand.

Their is one drawback to the 1000 watt halogen lights they put off a lot of heat and you can actually feel it on your back while polishing and if it is hot in the garage you will want AC or atleast a fan on you.

well i have a pool out back so if i get too hot polishing i can easily douse myself in pool water or quench my thirst with beer LOL

I got my 1000w halogen stand at Lowe's. It's orange and the brand is Utilitech. I've had it two years with no complaints. It cost me $25.

That's the ones I have...

My only complaint is the screw to open and close the left light is stripped and can't fully close the lid

I am going to try using 4-ft. flourecescent lamps suspended from the halogen stand to see if that provides more uniform light.
