Where are the flat pads? - 01-30-2009, 10:20 PM

Where have all the 5.5 inch flat LC pads gone? I know AG had a clearance on them, and DD has them bogo free, but no one has the orange ones. Have they been replaced by the CCS pads? Because I am not too happy with those ones... Any info?

I have stopped carrying them in favor of the CCS ones. I carry the Four Star 6.5 Flat pads. I've been using these and I'm having really good results with them. Their foam is more resilient IMO.

TexTB, I'm somewhat cool to the CCS orange pad myself. I have several though, so I force myself to use them if I need that correcting. I don't mind the white and the blue pads so much.

Does this mean it marrs less, hops less? Please explain.

Why? Is the orange too hard?

As compared to some other orange pads, yes.

I know the other question was directed to Troy, but IME I don't get much hop from the orange CCS when appropriate pressure is applied. (I guess I may need to clarify I'm referring to usage related to the PC)

It means it holds up to heavy use better. I don't have a problem with hopping or marring using either pads. The CCS is gonna be less apt to hop or marr if those are issues for you. If you're getting hopping with a DA then you're doing something wrong.

I stocked up on the 5.5" LC flat pads a couple years ago. I bought about 24 of them.

They are my absolute favorite pads. But with weekly use, especially on older cars with chrome badges and trim, once you catch the edge of a badge, the pad is toast!

I've tried the 5.5" CCS Smart pads, but I really do prefer the flat.

Any suggestions on a 5.5 flat?
