Pads for a Flex DA? - 10-18-2008, 08:27 AM

It would seem that any 6.5" pads that are suitable for use with a PC should work with the Flex, correct?

Would a 5.5" or 6" pad work if used with care on only easily accessible areas?

I realize that the backing plate would be at or slightly beyond the edge of the pad, but if you kept the pad flat to the paint, the backing plate shouldn't be an issue, right?

Right now, I have a PC and a lot of pads. Many/most of them are 6" or 6.5", but I do have a few 5.5" pads as well. I'm debating the purchase of a Flex and would probably sell the PC. I'm trying to decide if I should include my existing pads, many of which are still new, in a package deal with the PC and buy a Flex kit complete with pads.
I'm also curious as to the brands of pads that are compatible with the Flex. It would seem to me that any manufacturer's DA pads would be OK, but I don't really know that.

Who knows, after I kick the idea around for a while, I'll probably just keep the PC anyway. I find that if I research something long enough, I can often talk myself out of buying it.

I have only used the 6.5" LC CCS pads with my Flex. I never once thought about trying the 5.5 CCS pads on the Flex backing plate. The 5.5 CCS pads are thinner than the 6.5" CCS pads which would put the exposed part of the backing plate that much closer to the paint.
