4 15`s sounds insane the amount of air being moved by a setup like feel like a wind tunnel in the car, can`t light a lighter blows your hair around. Ahhh the good old days when I had an SUV.

I was fortunate to demo Rockford products. It was a little bit too much. The vehicles electronics and gauges would totally mess up at 3/4 volume. You could watch the vehicle contract and expand a shows. I still like great sound just more at home now.

This thread makes me want a little something again. Fun topic.

Yeah, I was only hitting 138-139db and was in the Novice 1-150 class. I was at the World Finals in `97 but quit competing after there was about a 100 point difference between the first and second set of judges. The one set scored my car and was consistent with what I was scoring throughout the year. I looked at the score sheets for some other cars in my class and their two sets of judges were very close in scoring. Had my second set of judges been even close to the first set I would have taken first place...ended up 9th. For whatever reason the second set of judges simply discriminated against my car and it was enough to make me not want to compete ever again.

I was in an `89 Accord coupe and had the following:

    • Clarion head unit, can`t remember the model but it`s still pretty much the same today as it was back then...pure SQ unit.
    • Soundstream amps (5.0 and Picasso)
    • CDT 6" mid-bass drivers
    • Image Dynamics horns (wave guides)
    • Image Dynamics IDQ 12" subs (2)
    • HiFonics Calisto Crossover
    • (2) HiFonics Plato EQ`s (daisy chained)
    • 1 fared cap and gel cell battery
    • Upgraded 150amp alternator
    • Scosche wiring and termination

...man I miss that sound though!

sad about the judges i`ve seen that and been on the receiving end of basis it really does annoy you because I`ve spent as much time on my stereo installs if not more than correcting the paint on a 90ft black trailer the was washed with steal wool.

Todd, I`m with you on this one!!

I had all speakers in my truck replaced with Polk Audio. I have both component and 3 way from the factory and although the originals were Infinity, these new Polk Audio`s sound great.

I`d love to replace the head unit and amp but I AM LOST......
