Autopia Attacked my Computer??? -
08-30-2010, 04:14 AM
I was talking with my parents tonight and somehow the subject of clearcoat failure came up. This reminded me of an amazing turn-around somebody did on Autopia and even though I no longer post there, I wanted to at least show them the write-up. I typed in the URL and got this!!
Anybody else get this too? I'm running Mozilla, just for the record. Picture 1.png

Even sometimes I, in a moment of what could only be described as pure sanity, question the rationality of this obsession.

I just got a bit of malware from going to that site last week. It took me sometime to figure out how it got there and to get it off.

I have no issue going there on my MAC but my PC will not open page as the AVG and Google catch it prior to opening.
There must be a problem with the site, to bad becasue there is alot of good info and recources over there. That and DC are the only site I cruze for detailing.

I got one of those fake virus companies software downloaded which says your computer is full of viruses and pay to get them deleted, when in fact the virus is their tool. The one I had was called "Security Tool".

I got the same problem I did not have anything to remove spyware and when you have one of those check your computer it will install crap on your hard drive.
My computer is a mess warning boxes pop up all the time.
Mine came preinstalled so I think I will buy a new operating system and start from scratch.

Interesting, I visited the site last night and sure enough before I even opened a thread, McAfee pop up appeared notifiying me of a Trojan. Had to shut everything down and re-boot. Thus far I have not seen any lingering problems from the occurence, but I won't be visiting again any time soon.

I unfortuately did it on my work computer. Luckily I knew the IT guy and he helped me out as I do not have admin permissions and for some reason our firewall never caught it.

Google advised me not to visit the site when I was doing some searching the other day, too.
Anyone here had the guts to try visiting the site from a mac? I'm on my MacBook but I don't want to risk it even though OSX is fairly safe from malware/viruses....

I got mine up and running again.
I never did like my HP version of windows so I picked up a new OS formatted the hard drive to be sure it was clean and installed the new OS.

That's a tough way to find your favorite detailing site.
