I was given a time out on another site, because I exchanged heated emails with another member. It was about detailing (of course) we didn't agree in a thread and I decided to go to the PM function.
He turned me in and I got a one week banning. Not a life changing experience
That said I had to wonder, why a site would care what people are talking about on PM's?
I understand why in the public forums but off line?

did this person ask you to stop pming him?
if so then anything after that point just like in texting or phone calls.. becomes harassment and since it is still part of the forum that you were on the people in charge had to do a C.Y.A. move and ban you.. im sure there is a rule about it somewhere... who knows.. hell the kid could have even lied and just complained a lot...but the owners and mods have to look out for themselves.

Claying does not mean "High end". It means quality/caring. So would actually learning a trade instead of "Hey I can wash and wax a car, so I'ma gonna be a detailer."

no he kept after me with tautless PM messages. Some of them got really foul so that's when I back off.
He is a regional sponsor and I think he feels like that gives him some weight, maybe it dose.
I know some forums, like Autopia, have the many rules for PM's just like they had in the regular forums. I am sure some would not like to be bombarded.

He started emailing me about the subject when the mods closed the thread we where on. I didn't say anything foul on the thread, I just asked him to back up what he had stated, and he kept avoiding the question.
Ron here knows who I am speaking of, very very combative guy, know it all and will not listen to anyone advice. He was also the same person that posted that he had used peanut oil as a plastic dressing and liked it so much that he was going to stock it in his shop..
I asked him to stop send me PM but that wasn't the stop, that's when I got nasty big time and he turned those in and caused the one week time out

well maybe you should email the mods and let them see what he did... i dunno Ron would know more about this than me as he has been a mean Mod before... but if he was harassing you..let them know..maybe they will lift the ban and give him a time out
