People that were killed or injured before the recall should sue Toyota.

After the recall if you get hit with one that the brakes failed or uncontrolled acceleration you should sue the owner/driver for knowingly driving the thing.

I think Toyota should furnish a car to drive until they fix yours or reimburse for a rental.

What I don't agree with is people are suing Toyota because the value of their car has dropped. Their is no guarantee of resale value.

While toyota did push that in their commercials and many bought thinking that they would get a premium price their was NO GUARANTEE

The big cover up....is now all un covered. One of my friends is a Toyota dealer here in Columbia,SC......he just laid out 27Milliion to build his new Toyota facility and just opened it up in October 2009. I would be pissed knowing I had that big MTG Payment hanging over me........and have to look at a few hundred cars that I can't even sell until the re call is performed. If you can sell them at all.
I think Toyota..owes a lot of people some money for this cluster mess.

I voted yes. However, I feel that to recover some damages, there must have been real damages inflicted. What I mean by that is that people who had accidents or lost family members due to the issue. People should NOT get damages due a perceived decrease in value or "emotional distress" or the like (again, excluding those who had a real issue - death, wreck, etc).

Right, Look what they did to Ford a few years back, They said it was the car, when in fact it was tires. That's why the insurance companies charge us what they charge. Every time they cut a check its gonna cost us "ALL" across the board.

After the recall Problem its on each and every person to get the thing fixed. Before the recall its the wild west, get what ya can...

FYI - the driveshafts used in the Tacoma recall are the same part used in Fords and Nissans.

Toyota Recalls Tacomas for a Defect in Drive Shaft (Update1) - BusinessWeek

It was a precautionary recall caught during manufacturing before any problems were ever reported.

So why does one company recall and fix the problem while two others let it slide?
