When you thought you thought you had all the Mods for your car!!!! - 03-07-2006, 08:36 AM

I just bumped into this and thought "This would be great in those traffic jams in Miami. All I can say is some people have just too much time and money on their hands. I hope I never have to see somebody mod a Civic with this thing in that back and trying to rev it up while I am in the back of it.

Even though there is a couple of design issues as air intake and internal noise issue its something that will make you go HHMMMM!!!!!

I can't imagine that thing is street legal. If it is it would be just as dangerous as it is ridiculous.

How does he figure that it is street legal? Where in his motor vehicle code does it say that if you strap a jet engine to the back of your car that it remains street legal? The ability to roast tailgaters is not street legal. This kid has been sniffing too much jet fuel...

I think the stock motor is legal, not sure if having a jet is legal though even if it is turned off. It reminds me of California laws regarding car stereo. Legally speaking it is not legal to have a subwoofer driver over 9 inches operating in your car on the street. (the laws may have changed since 98 I'm not sure) but you could have any type of set up in your car as long as it wasn't receiving power.
At the time I had 4 twelve inch subs in my car with the electrical system mounted underneath the backseat. I got pulled over once and while pulling the car over, reached under the back seat and yanked all the fuses. As the police officer walked to the car he shined his light into the back and saw all the speakers, he asked me if they were connected to power and I said no. I told him that it was a competition set up and I didn't have any fuses in the fuse-block. We ended up chatting about stereos for about 15 minutes and I ended up not even getting a ticket for rolling the stop sign which was why he had pulled me over originally.
So maybe as long as he keeps the turbine off it is still street legal?
