    New here from ct

Hi all, I am new here from ct. I am by no means a professional I just like my vehicles to look good and I like to get it done myself. Aside from fishing and golfing a 6 pack and an afternoon washing and waxing my truck is a favorite way to spend an afternoon. I just picked up a new to me f150 and as nice as the dealership tried to make it look I`ve spent the past week picking apart things they missed. From minor scratches to swirl marks they did a good job of hiding it on the lot. I`ve realized it`s time to put a method to my madness so I have come here for advice and to learn from the more experienced.

That being said the first thing on my list aside from a good wash is to falls the scratches and it seems a little sanding is going to be required. I have hesitantly done a little with ok results but before I go any further if someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome because wet or not the idea of taking sand paper to my paint scares the hell out of me.

I should also add that my wife has a black accord in need of some love after this past winter and I owe her one if I want to play golf so I want to knock it out of the park

Welcome to AF. What lends you to think sanding is your best/only option?

    From Thompson.
I am not saying wet sanding is the only option that is why I am here. And I do have a polisher but it`s a cheapo I picked up from Walmart many years ago.

Many surface scratches can be easily and safely removed with a random orbital, dual action (paint safe polisher). An exception might be scratch that catches your fingernail if you lightly rub over it, but if this is the case, then the scratch is really too deep to safely remove.

Here are some good reads to get you started:

    How Deep Is TOO Deep?

How thick is your paint compared to common items?
