Me and my 1941 Chevy (Ruby) have arrived! - 11-21-2009, 11:20 AM

Hello all,

Just bought a 1941 Chevy and keeping her clean and shiny for the shows brought me to this website. I hope to learn allot and make my detailing time productive.

Welcome to the site from Sonoma County CA

That is one nice looking ride, what kind of mill do you have in it?

From what I can see there is not much to do on the paint, other than glaze and wax.

Do you know when the car was painted?

Nice ride I had a 41 coupe just like that 60 years ago but mine was Green.
I had a 3/4 cam dual carbs and exhaust on it and it ran really good for the time.

I'm new to extreme detailing and 46 years old so can you tell me what "mill" is?

How can you tell about the glaze and wax job I need to do? Tell me more about when and what glazing does for paint.

The car builder died and all the paperwork was trashed so I can only speculate on when it was painted. My guess is the early-mid 90's.

I'm 55

Mill refers to the motor size, its a 60's thing for me.

That cars paint looks like its in great shape, so that's why I suggested glaze and wax

A glaze is something that a lot of car shows guy use, it can fill in minor marring on the paint and gives the paint a real wet look, there is little to no protection with a glaze. Wax is just that protection and SHINE...you top wax over glaze to give you a real high gloss shine!
