first timer, Hi everybody! - 08-06-2008, 07:30 PM

Hi Guys, my name is dave and I have been driveway detailing and using some really bad tools, burned up four wal-mart polishers on my last eight jobs. Not to mention all of the wasted hours just doing the best I can not really knowing any pro detailer stuff. well I just ordered the mega cyclo kit and 20 bonnets and am looking for any tips you all may have for a new guy. My jobs come out looking flawless but it took 8-15 hours to accomplish the results. I can not possibly make money that way. I did,nt even know that there was cutting pads and other tools to make this stuff easier. I just wanted to intro myself and say hi and I could use some tips cause I love making the results but want to eventually do this work as a primary living. thanks to all who write these threads! Good Day

Welcome to Detail City. Take a look at some of the threads on the PC. It's probably a little late to make this machine a serious consideration being you just purchased a Cyclo but much of the information in these threads will apply to any orbital polisher including the Cyclo. The Cyclo is a fine machine with some very good paint correction ability when considering orbital polishers. They are on the heavy side and aren't as comfortable when polishing side panels as the Porter Cable. The good thing to remember here is that you will never miss what you haven't used and you have purchased a very good machine.

Using a quality polisher as opposed to the type you've been burning up will cut your time in half changing nothing else in your process. Those type of polishers have very little paint correcting ability. They will spread wax but not much more, they just don't have a powerful enough motor. If you were actually able to get a flawless finish while using them pat yourself on the back. I would almost bet you haven't run across a seriously swirled car. Those polishers won't fix a condition like this, they just won't do it. Take a look at some of the site sponsors products (polishes, waxes and pads) the right products (and there are a bunch of "right" products from various manufacturers) will also make you more productive and yield a better end result. You'll almost have to try a few different ones and decide which one works best for you and your situation. Enjoy the site.

Welcome to the group

I like beer. On occasion I will even drink a beer to celebrate a major event such as the fall of communism or the fact that our refrigerator is still working.
