Hi! new member requesting your help on which detailing to choose

Hi,

I am a new member of detail city. Honestly I was surprised to see that such a forum actually existed on the net :-)

I have purchased a new toyota corolla and expect to get the delivery on 4th July. The first thing I would like to do is get it treated for paint protection and underbody anti rust protection.

I now have a choice of local detailer or 3M or WaxOyl. Recently my friend started a detailing service and has recommended Valvoline (Eagle One) car detailing (which is what he deals in).

please let me know your views on which of the above is the best in class? Should i consider Eagle one (Valvoline) at par with 3M and WaxOyl?

Eagle One products are over the counter. My experience is that most over the counter products don't produce the results that you can get from professional products. If you are going to purchase these items at the local store 3m would be your best bet. Their products are the best for OTC. IMO

Well most cars are factory treated for rust in the under body (think of all that stuff in the way now) and as far as paint protection if they are trying to sell you stuff so you don't have to wax your car just runn away.. there are clauses in there stating you have to bring it back to have it updated(EI rewaxed)

just get your self some NXT2 and be happy...

You have some great answers here so far...if you are looking at a dealership paint protection plan, those are money makers for them..no matter what they say, about never waxing your car, there are maintenance programs that you are required to maintain to insure the guarantee.

Eagle one is an OTC line not a bad one, but there are a lot better lines to work with that will give you much better duriablity..3M is a very good one but this depends on what they are using...the last one I've not heard of.

Now if the goal here is to get some durable protection on your new baby / investment...then I would suggest that you look at starting with a paint cleaner...to clean the surface up...a sealant would be next this offers a lot of good durability, then you can top that off with a good wax.

Lastly if this all seems confusing to you, and I would imagine it dose...Don't worry just take some time to read threw the threads here and use the search button to look up sealants, paste waxes, paint cleaners, etc.

To be honest, if you're looking for 'exterior' paint protection, why not do it yourself? With a little effort and help from many people around here, you can take that new car and spend a day with it and make it shine 10x's better than when you took delivery from the dealer!

There are a ton of great sponsors here with great waxes and cleaners. Take some time to read through the forums a bit and find out what people suggest and are using, then pick you up some and give it a shot!

I started out here a couple years back and have learned great amounts from not only the people here, but also from trial and error.
