Don't you think sending a regular e-mail to your non-regular clients will boost your business? It's free and you arent technically spamming if you ask the customer for their e-mail and let them know why.

If people know where to look when they need something, they will use the person that is in that spot. A month long ad in the Pennysaver is a hit or miss. A regular weekly ad in the Pennysaver is a chance to get business. If people browse that rag and see your ad and dont need your service, at least they will know where to look when they do need your service.

I think that all professional auto detailers looking for more business should be doing some kind of email marketing to their exsisting client base with an opt-in, easy to opt-out email list.

A well thought out newletter used at the right time and with the right incentives can bring in some serious business, especially from folks that have done business with you before and know that you do quality work.

www.constantcontact.com is the one that I use. They offer a free trial and cost for most detailers would be $15-$30 per month.
