I just recieved the UDM with some pads that were included with the kit. I have scratches on my 2001 VW Jetta. I used the orange pad with Mequires cleaner wax and it reduced the scratches but you can still see them. The scratches are deep enough that your finger nail can catch them. I have some Mequires Scratch X and was wondering if I can use the scratch x with the orange pad to buff out the scratches. If not what would be a good compound/polish I can use?

If you can feel it with your nails it went through the cc. Try using a glaze that fills, that`s about all you can do other than repaint.

Search for glazes, they do not have any cut, only gloss and filling of those deep scratches.
