In honor of pats thread - http://www.autopia.org/forum/hot-tub...-neighbor.html

Just wanted to rant. My neighbors bushes have completely gone past our line and I kindly suggested that whenever she has a moment, she could feel free to come on over to ~our side~ and deal with all her shrubbery. She replies she has no time and advises me to feel free to cut it down myself......the thought of Clorox has crossed my mind for several years now.

This is the same neighbor that refuses to shovel her walkway, her sidewalk, etc during the winter . She will kindly let other neighbors do it or wait till her brother in law comes by and does it....and we`re not talking about a fragile old lady here.

Just a memorial day rant. Pat... you`re not alone here .....

Copper nails will kill certain species of trees. Some say that it`s just a myth, but it does work. We killed a bunch of cottonwood trees behind our house with them. Cottonwoods + a pool don`t mix.

The copper will kill the shrub (or tree). Personally, I would cut the shrubs down and go from there...

I believe it will kill the bush, no pun intended. My understanding is if you hammer a copper nail into a tree it will kill the tree.

I`m not trimming her bushes....It`s a matter of principal these days.

I try to play nice. Occasionally, she will ask if she can have a pkg addressed to our house due to the fact no one is home 9-5 at hers. We help. Then she turns around and on trash day, she just starts picking up all the misc trash typical spring winds blow all around and dumps it into MY canister. Bear in mind, the trash shes` picked up is leaves, paper , etc and by city law we must RECYCLE. Sanitation dept is eager to give out *city revenue fines* for those found not separating their trash. I just happened to be walking outside when I caught her doing it and I was like....Why aren`t you putting that in your canister....I ended up taking out all the loose garbage she put in our canister and just dumped it back on her lawn.

So as much as I try to be neighborly, since that what neighbors are for.....I`m done trying to walk halfway with this one.

you can trim everthing to the proprty line, above and below ground. Branches that fall on your side of the property line are your responsibility.

and just some advice... in dealing with this type of person, give them an inch and they will take a mile; then find something else to complain about. Avoid future contact with this person, and build a bigger fence.
