What a Car Says About You

I just finished detailing a buddy of mine's Sport Trac. As I was cleaning it I started to think about him and another friend of mine and how opposite they are.

The Sport Trac friend is very anal about his vehicle with everything neat and tidy having a specific location for everything he keeps in it. He also has a list of instructions for me as to how he wants things done. The other friend is the exact opposite. His 4Runner is trashed all the time. Littered with anything and everything with no care at all given to it. It's only after he can't stand the smell anymore that it gets dealt with.

They both are near 50 and have remained single all their lives (not really by choice). It got me thinking about how you treat your car (and other stuff) can speak to other people about what kind of person you are.

I've known each of them for a number of years so I have formed my opinions as to why they are still single. I just wonder if I could have formed those same opinions by only seeing their cars and not knowing anything else about them.

What do you guys think? Can a car tell enough about someone that you can accurately guess what kind of person they are?

I think you can accurately gauge how a person is to some extent, in terms of their respect for themselves and others, how controlling they are, etc. based on how they treat their vehicle(s), however I don't think you can necessarily accurately judge someone to the extent of why they're single or not based solely on their cars.

That's not to say you never can, but you can't trust it most of the time.

Well here you go.

Opinion number 1. Mr. Sport Trac scares any potential Mrs. Sportracs away with his toy collection, insane love for sci-fi movies along with how he has to have things his way in most situations (he also has a pretty peculiar laugh). I used to play volleyball with both these guys and we would play indoor one night a week. So about 10pm we would be done and would go out afterwards. We would all kid Mr. Sport Trac because he would be the only one who would go home and shower on nights we went to Hooters. He had multiple crushes there.

Opinion number 2. Mr. 4Runner has always been the "Where's the next party?" kind of guy and everyday is a vacation most of the time with him. In other words, responsibility and commitment have never been high on his priorities. He doesn't do his own laundry or do any chores around his house. Basically a slob. He has always had room mates as long as I've known him too, which are the ones who take care of the house by the way.

If it is a contest between cleanliness to sloppiness that is one thing but if it is brand vs brand that is another story.

NO you can not judge people by what they drive or how it looks.
To some a vehicle is nothing but an appliance to take them from point A to B

Maybe your not supposed to judge people on how there car looks , but I sorry I do. I work at a Toyota dealership and Im just amazed on how bad some of the customers cars look, I dont mean swirls on the outside , I mean the inside. A lot of people are just slobs.
