Proof that birds have selective aim... - 04-22-2009, 08:25 PM

As those of you who saw in the showcase, I cleaned up the Santa Fe yesterday and ran some errands on my lunch break (returned some DVDs, etc.). I come back and my space (naturally) was taken by another car so I backed into a spot near the end of a curb to keep the sun away from the windshield. I come back and put my bags in the back to find a bird left a nice present down the bumper (a little bit on the tailgate).

Just to prove to myself I wasn't crazy, I looked at the two cars next to me. To my right was a turquoise mid-90s Dodge Caravan with hazed over headlights, a trashed interior, and paint on the verge of oxidizing itself to death. To my left was a white Dodge Ram that looked as though it had seen more than its fair share of muddy roads and not enough car washes to keep the balance. Neither of them had one speck of bird poo on it.

So it is confirmed; birds just like to crap on clean, properly looked-after cars.

Even sometimes I, in a moment of what could only be described as pure sanity, question the rationality of this obsession.

Ain't that the truth.

It's one of those laws of nature that effect detailers.

It always rains the day you decide to detail your car. Usually just after you have applied the sealant but before you get a chance to take it off.

With me I rarely have to drive down a dirt road but you can bet that when I do it's usually shortly after I cleaned my truck.

I always thought birds are attracted to metaflake paint jobs. Seems everywhere I go flying bugs and birds are just amazed at the color of the car. Either way i now keep a couple of MF towels & a bottle of quick detailer in the car these days.

I think they're attracted to any clean car. Plus, they're also attracted to my right index finger. I swear I've been hit on my finger at least 3 times. The funniest time was when I was talking to my cuz and I lifted my finger to point at something and before I opened my mouth, a pigeon popped right on my finger. I went , he went .

I'm willing to bet it has something to do with the reflectivity or properly upkept paint.

Feed them all cheese! At least then it would go Pa-tink instead of splak.
