Dear Detail City Members - 01-09-2007, 10:05 PM

Dear Detail City Members,

Well another year has come and gone and Sheila and I are starting to settle in to our new positions. We are excited about the direction Detail City is going and we are enjoying getting to know the members here. Thank you everyone for supporting us, and for making Detail City one of the best forums on the net! It's great to see the members here getting to know one another and sharing ideas.

I also would like to take this opportunity to address some issues that were handled badly by us here at Detail City in the recent past. I am aware of them, and I take full responsibilty for the mistakes that were made. We want to assure everyone here that we are dedicated to making this a friendly environment for open discussion and we have taken steps to keep it that way. Thanks once again for your support and friendships. We look forward to another great year.

Sincerely,

Troy Armstrong

Re: Dear Detail City Members - 01-09-2007, 10:10 PM

I also want to add that we have ammended the rules. Yes that means picture posting is back to the way it should be!!!

Looking forward to seeing some nice cars. I will be posting a few myself. I have to be careful not to make the rest of you look bad though.

Here are the new rules:

1. Arguing, slamming, bashing or profanity in the public forums will not be tolerated at all and may result in immediate membership termination. This includes complaining in public about the website, website ownership and the moderator staff. We highly encourage healthy debate and intelligent conversation and members are expected to be polite and courteous at all times. If you feel that you are being attacked, harrassed or stalked at anytime, let a moderator or the administrator know about it and the problem will be addressed ASAP.

2. ATTENTION MANUFACTURES & VENDORS - NO FREE ADVERTISING OR PRODUCT PROMOTION AT ALL! Please contact me directly for advertising information.

3. No buying, selling, trading or want ads. If you have new or used items to sell, we suggest that you visit a website that is designed to accomodate member to member sales such as Amazon.com or Ebay.com.

4. SIGNATURES - Forum Advertisers, Administrators, Moderators and Supporting Members may have signatures. Paying advertisers may advertise in their signature. For supporting members, signatures may contain links to personal websites and professional auto detailing businesses that are locally owned and operated by the member that is posting the signature. You may also post a link to your detailing photo gallery (hosted at DetailCity.org or third-party hosting service) in your signature. Please do not link to commercial websites that sell car care products, auto detailing supplies, cleaning chemicals, protectants or any other automotive products and accessories. Signatures are not to be used as a place for brand specific product endorsements and are subject to edit by the Detail City staff. Signatures may contain up to to 5 lines of text.

5. POSTING PICTURES - Members may post pictures in most places on this site. However, we will not allow provocative or obsene photos on Detail City. If you are posting vehicle photos, we ask that you make license plates unreadable out of respect for the owner of that vehicle.

If you are posting step-by-step pictures, we would encourage you to emphasize the process used, rather than the product(s). This will insure that picture posting will remain on this website. Emphasizing products over process used, raises questions as to whether it is an advertisement.

Please keep picture width to no more than 800 pixels and file size under 200 KB. Here are some threads to help you with deciding where to, and how to, post your pictures;

DetailCity.org is a private forum and governed as such. Members do not have any legal rights to use this forum and membership can be terminated at any time. All threads, posts and images added to our website become sole property of DetailCity.org.

I definately think the ammendments to the rules will help and I'm really happy to hear that picture posting is allowed again. Now I just have to get some customers.

Troy, one question about the gallery:

In the past, it has been difficult to load pictures, especially if one is using 56K (as I do). Has the process been improved, or will it be improved soon?

Thanks,
Charles

What does "user member names added to our website become sole property of DetailCity.org." mean?

Good question. That was copied from the old rules, guess I didn't pay close enough attention in my proof read. I believe it means user name of the member becomes sole property of DetailCity.Org. I'm gonna take it out, I don't think it needs to be there.

Have you tried resizing the pictures or more importantly resizing the file? 800 Pixels wide fits well within a post and I'm not sure but any file larger than 2mb might cause problems.

As an added note, I will be addressing the glitches with the gallery and restoring the Detailer's Showcase Forum very soon.
