    DP Poli-Coat Paint Sealant Review

First off I have to thank forum member RPPM from Autogeek for hooking me up with a brand new bottle of DP Poli-Coat Paint Sealant.

I had the chance to finally use it this past weekend. I polished up my mom`s 1996 Buick Regal with 100K miles on it.

    My thoughts:

-Comes out a lot thinner than any other sealant I have used
-Has this banana type smell to it
-With it being a thinner liquid I found it to be fairly easy to apply a thin coat by hand.
-Easy to remove. Even areas where it was applied thicker it is still easily removed
-Hazed rather quickly for me. It was in the mid 70`s, low humidity here in Southern California. I would say it took 10-15 mins.
-It was little hard to see after it hazes since it is applied so thin. Especially on a light colored car
    -Gives a good shine
-Didn`t feel as slick at first. But after curing it feels just as slick as M21 or Ultimate Wax. Maybe even a little more slick than these two.

I will post up some beading photos after the first wash and report back. This will be a long term test to see how long it lasts on it own. I will be using Meguiar`s D111 shampoo plus or D114 Rinse Free Express Wash as this what I currently have. I do have Detailer`s Pro Final Gloss Detailer which I may use as maintenance.

The car was prepped with the following:

FYI this car has never been polished. It has only been clayed and cleaner waxed. My dad has taken really good car of it.

    Wash: Meguiar`s D111 Shampoo Plus
Clay: Clay Magic clay bar with Meguiar`s D115 Last Touch as clay lube
    Polish: Meguiar`s M205
    Sealant: Detailer`s Pro Poli-Coat
    DA: Porter Cable 7424XP
Pad: 5.5" White Lake Country Flat Pad

On to the photos. I was losing light so these will have to suffice for the time being. These were taken with an iphone.

Sitting in the garage curing over night.

very nice mike. dp poli coat doesn`t get a lot of air time, but is an excellent sealant and a favorite of mine. affordable, easy on, easy off, slick, high gloss finish and holds up very well.

    Mike -
What a good boy your are !

I know my Mom loved it when her car was all nice and shiny, too..
She is in her mid-90`s now, so driving for a while was off the table.
Not because she couldnt drive - she actually is very, very, good at anything and requires no canes, walkers, chairs, etc., but more because she is shrinking to the place where you need a few cushions or something to raise her back up ! Too funny !

Killer job on the car !

Thanks Dan. I do what I can for my folks. My dad`s 02 Camaro is next. His will be getting a DP combo of of poli-coat and max wax. Looking forward to seeing this combo on his navy blue metallic paint.

Isn`t it strange to see that happen as one gets older. My grandfather is the same way. He`s about to turn 90 and he`s in the same position as your Mom. He`s shrunk to the point where he can`t drive. Other than that he`s physically ok with walking. Sometimes I think he has more energy than me LOL.

I gave the car it`s first wash. Here are a couple photos of the beading.

Quick video of the sheeting action. Sheets very well.

Wow. I can`t see any swirls, even under the garage light. I could never clear the swirls outta my honda`s paint with M205. Even with Ultimate compound, an orange pad, max speed and good pressure on the PC it still takes me at least two section passes until the swirls are completely eliminated.

Wow, beeding and sheeting seems to of slowed down a lot in the small time you have had it on. How long exactly has it been on?
