Review: SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax

http://www.autogeek.net/sonax-carnauba-wax.html[/FONT]

Manufacturers description:
SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax combines the beauty and protective properties of genuine carnauba wax with the durability of silicone ingredients to make one high gloss, highly effective car wax. SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax will make your vehicle look fantastic and, most importantly, it will keep it that way with quality paint protection.
SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax is made with real carnauba wax, the finest natural protectant known to man. With its high melting point and natural UV resistance, carnauba wax is a natural choice for car wax. Genuine carnauba wax is the only wax found in SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax.

SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax is free of fragrances and contains no artificial filler waxes. Only 100% carnauba is found in every jar! SONAX added silicone components to increase the carnauba`s workability and longevity. Therefore, you get all the benefits of a carnauba paste wax but in an easy-to-apply formula. Plus, SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax is hypoallergenic. It can be applied with your bare hands!

Car was due for a mini detail, its has been a few months since my ride got a little love. Figured what better chance to test out a new LSP I acquired!
Process: (brief rundown)
2BM UWW+ Rinseless Dilution
Nanoskin Mild Sponge to decon
CG Sig Series Wheel Cleaner on Wheels and Tires (covers got a coat of BFCS) Mothers brushes to scrub.
Windows cleaned with CG Optical Clarity Glass Cleaner. Windows previously coated with DP Glass Coating, phenominal stuff!
DP Prep Polish to remove prior LSP’s and to give the paint a good deep cleaning it needed (Polish used via Griots 6” with Black finishing pads speed 4-4.5)
Sonax Premium Class Carnauba as LSP
No before shots, the cars was in good shape as most of ours are. So we’ll go right to the afters and some thoughts.

Glamour shots:

First off, this smells horrible. Usually I am not someone who cares about a products scent, but this was just not pleasant. Which really stinks because the wax is a joy to use. It spreads really nice. I applied by machine and hand. I like applying waxes by hand though, but toward the end I whipped out the machine to cover my roof, quick! The package includes two applicators, which you see pictured. They fit perfectly in the pot and really don’t soak up much product. It’s a WOWO wax, however I let it sit a panel and then wiped off. Call me crazy but I go against the rules(/sarcasm). The wax itself is pretty slick once set, not the slickest but it’s there. It really gives a nice look though. Very warm on my car. It muted my flakes slightly but not as much as some other products have. Probably due to prep to, no real cutting involved just cleaning. These pictures were taken a few hours after this was all over.

Here’s the rub though. This wax is really similar to P21S. They are packaged the same, the same price(now) and from the box, it’s contents, to the tub, it looks the same. However, I no longer have my P21S, so I can’t compare nor do I remember if it smelled as horrible as this. So going out on a limb and totally guess, but I’d say they might be at least manufactured by the same source. Just my guess, what do I know…. They could be different formulas, but the packaging is very similar.

I will say though, I did enjoy the wax. Despite the smell, it applies easy, looks nice, and if I can see 2 months from it here in the So Cal climate, I’ll be happy! For it’s price, I’d say it’s worth it. Like other SONAX products I have tried, it was indeed good! I say go for it if you want to drop some money on a wax that delivers.

Great review! I`m picky on how products smell. If it doesn`t smell good, I usually won`t use it.* Those applicators look really nice.

Re: Review: SONAX Premium Class Carnauba Wax

Thanks for doing this review! I`ve always been curious about this wax, because I love pretty much every SONAX product I have ever used. In fact, I will have a review of their leather foam coming up in the coming week.

I would think this wax compares with P21S 100%, is that a fair comparison? Not just because they only use carnauba in their wax composition but also their premium status in the wax market.

The after-shots look great! Really nice distinction of image and crisp lines. Also a very nice, warm glow that seems to radiate out of the paint.

Thanks for taking the time to share and I`m glad we got to see this wax in action!

Thanks! Yeah the odor on this is a chemical one for sure. The wax is great, a nice scent adds something IMO. Not make or break, but a nice bonus!

Thanks Todd! Yeah the wax is pretty good. Not BFMS good, but good. BFMS is still my go to!

Thanks so much! i would for sure say it`s close to p21S. the price is the same, give or take, and they come with the same bonuses, like a towel and those nifty little applicators.

Thanks for the review.
Yes this wax is almost identical to P21s 100%, but seems to be more durable:
