Review #2 - DP AIO Headlight Restoring Polish

Two older sets headlights ready to be tested against the DP AIO Headlight Restoring Polish. After great results last week on the Subaru I lined up a CRV and another Subaru.

First, the Subaru headlights and LC Cyan Low Profile HT foam.

    Products used:

    • Porter Cable 7424XP
    • LC-43-073DA Dual Action 3 Inch Flexible Backing Plate
    • DP AIO Headlight Restoring Polish
    • 3" X 7/8" Cyan Low Profile HT foam
    • CarPro Eraser
    • Optimum Opti-Lens Permanent Headlight Coating

Setup for PC, pad, and DP polish.

    Before - Front Left

    After - Front Left

Before - Front Right taped off

    50/50 - Front Right

    After - Front Right

Next, the CRV lights with a LC thin foamed wool pad.

    Products used:

    • Porter Cable 7424XP
    • LC-43-073DA Dual Action 3 Inch Flexible Backing Plate
    • DP AIO Headlight Restoring Polish
    • LC 3 1/4 Inch Thin Foamed Wool Pads
    • CarPro Eraser
    • Optimum Opti-Lens Permanent Headlight Coating

    Before - Front Left

    After - Front Left

    Before - Front Right

    After - Front Right

Whatever pad is used be sure to clean the pad after each section. The wool pad and foam pads load up quickly. The wool pad does cut faster than the foam pad but both worked extremely well.

Both sets of headlights were a huge improvement. The CRV headlights did have some deeper scratches that would have required sanding to remove. A quick tape and polish provided very good results.

Both customers were extremely happy with the results.

Where did you pick up the low-pro cyan pads? Nice review, just bought some last week after reading the last review!

Thanks Mike, so far very big improvements on some nasty old headlights.

Thanks RacerScott, the pads were purchased from AG about 1-2 years ago. I just searched and did not see them on the site. Maybe Todd can chime in if they are still stocking these.

based on your experience would you prefer this method (the DP polish) over compound, polish, seal type method?

assuming you used the same pads

Yes, my go to for headlights right now is the DP Headlight Polish. One might be able to get better results with two steps but for a one step the DP Headlight Polish works great. These two cars were 10+ years old and my friends asked if I could make them "any" better.

Sweet review! That polish is pretty impressive with no sanding involved!

awesome. i think i might have to pick some of that up then....do you think you could achieve the same results using this attached to a corded drill?

Yeah, the PC isn`t the most powerful DA. It always has a 3" backing plate so I keep using it. Be sure to clean the pad after each small section. I typically do half a headlight at a time. A drill with the foam wool pad should provide similar results.

Are you wanting to achieve 100% perfect headlights? For the headlights I have done, improvement is asked for.

not looking for 100% improvement just something that i can use quickly during a normal detail to add a little something for those in need headlights (currently i am doing megs 105/205 then some type of aio then optiseal) and i would prefer something less step intensive for when im just going above and beyond

Thanks for the review. How does it compare to just using a paint polish?

Your making this HLR kit looks like the best thing since sliced bread.

    Nicely done.

You should give the DP Polish a try.

Thanks Bunky! This DP Polish is more of a FG400 or WG Uber Compound in my opinion. I don`t think you could get the same cut with m205 vs the DP Polish.

Haha, it works really easy with great results.

Excellent review. DP AIO Headlight Polish really makes quick work of moderate to lightly neglected headlights, as well as pulls out the sanding scratches from more restorations.
