Initial Impressions: Gtechniq T1 Tyre and Trim

Initial Impressions: Gtechniq T1 Tyre and Trim

    Introduction:

A new product line added to the ACC fold gave me all of the excuse I needed (which, admittedly, isn`t much) to buy and try.

Thanks again to Corey for providing the format.

    Product

    Product Claims:

From Autopia Car Care site - Gtechniq T1 Tire & Trim 250 ml.

"Take control over your tires gloss and look!

One coat provides a satin finish
Two coats provides a high-gloss finish
    Excellent durability and protection.

Gtechniq T1 Tire and Trim is a long-lasting tire and trim dressing that gives you ultimate control of the final look. Gtechniq T1 Tire and Trim is based on nanotechnology for extreme durability, water repellency, and oil repellency. Your tires and trim will look better for longer. This tire dressing is Smart Surface Science for your exterior rubber pieces.

Gtechniq T1 Tire and Trim is easy-to-apply. Thoroughly clean and dry tires first. Apply T1 Tire and Trim directly to a foam applicator and spread evenly onto tire and/or trim. Remove any excess product with a separate cloth. One coat will provide a satin sheen. If you desire a gloss finish, wait ten minutes and repeat the application steps.

Once your tires and trim pieces are protected with Gtechniq T1 Tire and Trim you will notice they stay cleaner for longer. This is because Gtechniq T1 Tire and Trim has been specially formulated to resist moisture and oil. The deep, dark look will not sling onto bodywork or wash away at the first sign of rain. Do not use Gtechniq T1 Tire and Trim on motorcycle or bicycle tires."

    Details:

    1.- Packaging: Plastic bottle
    2.- Directions: Clearly labeled
    3.- Viscosity: Oily
    4.- Color: Translucent
    5.- Scent: Chemical
    6.- Price at time of review: 250ml = $ 16.99
    7.- Manufacturer: Gtechniq
9.- Made in: British company anyway.

    Other Products Used:

    Sponge Applicator
    Carrand Brush Applicator
    MF

    Preparation:

Cleaned tires with Zep Citrus Degreaser (4:1) & brush. Dried with MetroVac Sidekick and MF.

    Application:

Shake well. Apply to sponge applicator and spread on tires. I followed with a second coat 10 min later using Carrand Brush applicator. Wiped off excess with MF.

    Observations:

Light chemical smell. Not as easy to spread as Carpro PERL or BF Total Eclipse and excess is not easy to remove excess if you have ribs on the tires. Dramatically darkens tire. Leaves a pretty glossy finish.

Does it meet its claims? In general.

    Pros:

1.- Rather easy application and removal
    2.- Darkens tires
    3.- Glossy finish.

    ???:

    1.- Durability - We`ll see.

    Cons:

    1.- None.

    Final Observations and Summary:

I definitely liked how Gtechniq T1 darkened the tires. Would probably have liked 1 coat better (less glossy). Durability will be the overall deciding factor on just how much I like T1.

    I will update.

Comments and questions are encouraged. Thanks for viewing!

Thank you for the well written review Mike!

I don`t know much about the Gtechniq product line and have never used any of them. They`re reported to be a high performance product line with quite a following.

Gtechniq T1 Tyre and Trim appears to have been easy to use and I like the overall uniformity..

    Thanks again Mike!

    UPDATE:

It has been 6 weeks since I applied to the Tiburon. It is a daily driver and gets washed weekly. Have only been foaming with CG Honeydew Snow Foam and (normally) blown dry with the MetroVac.

    Still beads

    Darkening is much less

I also had great result with the product, I think GTechnig T1 has potential. Wish they would make this in a larger bottle and perhaps that would lower the Cost per OZ. Other than that it is great.

I`ll bump this instead of making a new thread, OP I know this was posted ages ago, but do you remember about how much you used? I feel I might go nuts on a new detailing brand kick and Gtechniq looks to be in the lead. I`m curious how many sets of tires I could expect to get from the bottle. I detail on the side for $$$ so I like to try and calculate product usage costs before I jump on something new.

With 2 passes on low profile 17" tires each time...I`ve used three times and at just slightly above the half bottle mark. Liquid is not very thick so first use I had to quickly adjust as i may have poured too much on applicator...in Florida weather I have found that each application will last just about 4 weeks (not complaining though)
