Review: Showroom FX White Pearl Tire & Trim Dressing

Review: Showroom FX White Pearl Tire & Trim Dressing

(Previously known as: Tropicare White Pearl Tire & Trim Dressing)

    Preface:

After writing this review I went online to try to find the price and claims from the Tropicare website. With some digging I discovered they had renamed their business as Showroom FX (a name many of us have heard of). I was happy to find it was just a name change and not a lost business! Anyway, I also found it is for both tires and trim. My review does not include any use on trim. Anyway, I refer to it as Tropicare in places but it is now called Showroom FX.

    Introduction:

Just when I thought I was out..... They pull me back in!

This was how I felt the first time I used Tropicare white pearl.... Let`s back up just a bit. I had experienced Carpro PERL just months earlier and fell in love with its look on tires as well as interior and engine. After using many different tire products I was finished. I wouldn`t be needing another... I`ve tried more than a few tire products and between the extremely rich black look of PERL and the extreme durability of UTTG my shelf has enough other products to give a different look and shine for any occasion.

Then one morning I remembered a sample bottle on my tire shelf that my buddy Heath had sent me. I had never gotten around to using it and thought I would like to see something different that week on my Sky tires. Thanks to my good buddy Heath for this rare opportunity to try Tropicare White Pearl (TWP). Those of you who have been around a bit probably recognize the name as a product that graced the forum talk a few years ago and was said to resemble Swissvax pneu. Having never used pneu I can`t comment on that part... Anyway, lets dispense with the jabber-pussing and move forward.

    Product claims:

Our water based tire and trim dressing is a quick drying easy to use formula and provides a deep, black, clean finish. It’s effectively applied with a 4” round gray foam tire and dressing applicator. When applied properly, it will not spray or throw of the desired surface. It works great as engine dressing for hoses and plastic accents. One 4" Lake Country Mfg. foam tire dressing applicator included.

    Details:

    01.- Packaging: Plastic bottle
    02.- Directions: N/A
    03.- Viscosity: Thin
    04.- Scent: Who knows
    05.- Color: Milky White
06.- Cost: $29.99 (Sale at time of review - $15.99)
    07.- Size: Not Listed
08.- Manufacturer: Showroom FX (the artist formerly known as Tropicare)
    09.- Made in: USA

    Product:

    Application:

WP applies easily by sponge or foam applicator. I could have sprayed it direct and then buff like I do with Perl I suppose, but I didn’t want to have to be careful of overspray. I sprayed two times to prime my applicator and started on my passenger rear tire. After a few more sprays the tire was coated but left a messy look. I wasn`t sure how I was going to feel about the product but I decided to let it sit while I moved onto the other tires.

Here is how it looked during application

By the time all 4 tires were complete I came back around to inspect the first. It had almost completely dried and I could see a gentle buff with mf towel would likely perfect it.

Here is how it looked 5 minutes after application

I gently buffed each tire one time.

Here is how it looked after buffing off the dried excess product
    (Lighting CFL Spotlight)

Here is how it looked outside in the daylight
    Now that looks good!

Sky doesn`t get a lot of hard weather but she did get a couple hundred miles on her over the next month including a couple washes. On my garaged Sky in those conditions the tires still looked good 4 weeks later. On a daily driver I imagine the look would last a couple weeks (depending on weather).

    Pros:
    1.- Easy of use
    2.- Nice textured matte finish
    3.- Dry to the touch
    4.- No sling

    ???
    1.- Not tested on trim

    Cons:
1.- Price (I think-not sure what size they give you for that price)
2.- Showroom website doesn`t list the size

    Final Observations and Summary:

For those that like a water based tire dressing with a nice matte finish this is sure to impress! If you prefer more gloss it may not be for you. Then again all tires are different so you never know. Personally on tires I like to mix it up as far as the level of gloss I enjoy. This one really leaves a “textured” look like I haven’t seen with any other dressing I’ve used.

Application is a breeze and you can ignore the initial fear it will look runny. It dries quite nicely and a final buff leaves the tires looking gorgeous.

Thanks for viewing! Comments & questions are welcome of course.

I used Tropicare products for years. I used to be almost all I used. I think this was one of the few that I didn`t try. Thanks for posting the review

The BF tire gel was smiling at me on a 50% off sale during Christmas and I resisted as well.

Corey, not sure if you have heard this but I understand you can dilute this product. I might drop by during lunch one day and talk to Steve just to verify.

Would you please show the wiping portion of the towel?

I`m curious if I`m the only one who has a blackened towel after wiping.
