    Review: CG Inner Clean

    Review: Chemical Guys Inner Clean

    Introduction:

My personal preference is for no gloss on the interior. Also, having a little cleaning ability is nice so either 1) on nicely kept interiors, only need the one step or 2) no rinse step is required if I`ve had to use a cleaner first. This is another product I really didn`t need but I like Chemical Guys stuff so sprung for it.

Thanks to Corey again for providing the format.

    Product Claims:

From Autopia Car Care site -

    4.- Color: Neon Yellow

    Product

    Other Products Used:

    CG Nonsense
    MF

    Preparation:

Even though my car didn`t need it, I wiped down the door card with CG Nonsense. (This is part of a dressing series so want to show different gloss levels from nothing.)

    Application:

Spray a small amount on clean short nap MF and rub into vinyl or other interior surface. Follow with a light buffing with dry MF.

    Observations:

It flashes rather quickly and can leave can leave a slightly blotchy finish until the final wipe. After that, is factory matte - exactly what I want.

    Cleaned with Nonsense

CG IC, CG Silk and CG VRP (sorry, sun moved that far in the 90 sec it took to apply)

A bit hard to tell but there is no visible tape line on the CG IC side.

Does it meet its claims: yes, except for the "one of a kind part" - I have two other similar products - and the "dust repelling technology" which 1) didn`t know it had until I started writing this and 2) wasn`t looking for until now.

    Comparisons:

Comparing with Megs QID and 1Z CP, all three are fine products and I will continue use them all. The biggest difference is price, scent and, maybe slightly, cleaning ability.

In the smaller sizes, Megs QID is clear winner price-wise - $5 at your local WalMart. By the gallon, Megs QID and CG IC are almost the same. 1Z CP is far behind in both categories.

As mentioned, CG IC has a fruity smell while Megs QID and 1Z CP have differing intensities of a similar scent (1Z is slightly stronger and claims "citrus" - OK, if you say so).

Cleaning ability is harder for me to judge as my cars stay clean and my customers cars need far more than any of these would deliver. Pushed, I`d say CG IC and Megs QID are about the same and 1Z CP very slightly less.

Which would I use? For my own cars, I am alternating between CG IC and 1Z CP because I like the scent of 1Z and am willing to pop for the extra cost of the boutique product for my cars. When the 1Z is gone, depends on mood whether I buy again. Not because it is in any way bad, just expensive.

For my customers, they mostly get Megs QID (assuming they don`t want the "dressing" look) because I have more than 2 gallons of it, is very cost effective and it works very well. When I`m out, I`ll have to think about it but have no complaints with Megs QID.

    Pros:

    1.- Cleans.
    2.- Protects.
    3.- Cost effective
    4.- Pleasant smell.

    ????:
    1. Durability. My cars get wiped down every week or, at most, two so I`ll never know.
    2. Dust repelling technology. Will be looking for that.

    Cons:

1.- I could use a little less of the pleasant smell but dissipates quickly.

    Final Observations and Summary:

Like most CG products I`ve tried, it is good stuff and meets my "professional" needs very well. Not as sexy as some of the boutique products I may use on my own vehicles but think they work quickly, without undue fuss and give a large percentage of the boutique result (& sometimes, more) at a low enough price for my "normal" customers to swallow without hurting "profit".

Comments and questions are encouraged. Thanks for viewing!

Great review. This is one CG product that you don`t hear much about. Thanks for the comparison to Meg`s QID and 1z. I have both and I find myself reaching for QID more.

Another great review, thanks! I use Meg`s QID sometimes but most of the time I reach for 1Z CP. I wouldn`t mind trying this product before I cast my opinion on pricing vs. the others.

Thanks for the review. I`ll definitely be trying CG products down the road. I don`t have any in my arsenal currently. As for this one it sounds like I can stick with my MegsQID.

How much difference is there really between QID and 1Z CP? I`ve never used the 1Z stuff, but I go through QID like it`s water.

Another nice review. I have been using Meg`s QID like others but may have to give this a try.

    Nice review!

Does the "Pineapple/Peach" smell linger, and is it strong?

I love the 1Z Cockpit due to the smell as well. I like how it smells fresh but doesn`t hang around too long.

Not really strong and, no, it doesn`t linger.

CG has many interesting scents in their products. The coconut scent in their 721 Finishing polish took me by surprise. Quite good but didn`t expect in a polish. Their Hybrid V7 smells like orange sherbet (awesome!).

How well does it clean and at what point do you decide an APC is more appropriate first?

    Re: Review: CG Inner Clean

I wish. I started off using mostly CG products. (My inner eye looks at FMINUS`s work for what I want to do detailing and he used a lot of CG products in the beginning.) I was waiting for others to write some but hadn`t seen any. Fertile ground. That and I want the $700 worth of BF products.

Your opening a lot of eyes with your reviews that`s for sure. I for one have only ever bought their MF towels and never really looked at their other products for the most part can`t beat their prices on towels.

The ironic thing Charlie is that I have had 1Z cut better in every situation than QID. Everyone else is just the opposite. Guess I`m weird.

There`s a name I haven`t heard for a while. What ever happened to him?
