Talking Opti seal - 12-14-2009, 02:06 PM

I have heard good things about opti-seal but have never had the pleasure of trying the product. I did how ever buy a bottle to use on those hard to treat areas like gm grills. Is using the product as easy as spraying and letting the product dry? Then wiping off the stuff. Can this be used over a waxed surface? or should it be a stand alone product?

Any intelligence would be forthcoming...

Would you be satisfied with an answer that wasn't intelligent?

It is a product I have used a lot and have really liked.
I spray it on an applicator and wipe on the surface.
You don't apply it, let it dry and wipe it off.
You apply it to the surface and let it dry. That's it, done!
Just spraying it on might work, but I would have some reservations. You would need to get a thin, even application and that could be difficult with just spraying. Not gonna say it won't work since I haven't tried it, but I will say, I don't think it will.
About 10 to 12 sprays is plenty of product to do an entire vehicle when spread with an applicator.

I basically use it as a stand alone product.
I typically polish with Poli-Seal and apply the Opti-Seal every 90 days Maintenance consists of applying some Opti-Seal every 4 to 6 weeks without polishing.
I do use Duragloss Aqua Wax quite often after washing and I have used the Opti-Seal after the AW with no problem I am aware of.

Thanks Charles, I know if you use the stuff it must be a good product. Thanks for the help...

Do you use a damp applicator (water) or start with a dry one and prime with product first?

Dry. Prime the pad with a couple of sprays of optiseal.
Water and os do not play well together at all.

Not sure how well it cures in low temps. You may want to try it earlier in the day.

I was talking about the outside temp getting cold. I will wash inside and then hope things freeze up after dinner outside. At least I can get a night and possibly 1 day in with a reasonably clean car. Thanks on the heads up...
