DODO - all that? - 11-16-2009, 08:26 AM

I must admit I am a sucker for new and shiney....I read the dodo info and wow it sounds great - but then --- 60 bucks for wax? 50 bucks for paint clenser?

Is it really A - worth it and

B - that good?

You have activated my special ability....

I have no personal experience with DoDo but feel like its more hype than anything else.

Product is 10% application is 90%

Yeah - that's the main thing that has kept me from trying out any Dodo products. They sure are proud of them....

I feel the same about the high end Zymol paste waxes.

I bought the 8 sample pack from Detail Image a year ago, the Hard Candy wax was the only one that impressed me at all. The rest of the line - you gotta be kidding.

A - No.

B - No.

But from my experience with the products (Blue Velvet, Purple Haze, Sour Power), their products seem to fill a significant niche in the detailing market.

I have allot of various waxes and like many people have tried the most expensive to the $24.99 range, to me and others I really cannot justify over $100.00 on wax, been there and done that, several times...the waxes are good but for the dollar amount you pay I could not really tell that great of a difference.

Now, on to the good stuff........the wax that has impressed me the most is....drum roll.....Pinnacle Liquid Souveran and the Paste Wax.........this product continues to impress me and my customers and the really cool thing is that it looks beautiful on all colors of vehicles but mainly dark colored cars.....this has been my go to wax for the past year and a half. I absolutely Love this product, I would put it up against any other waxes out there.

Dodo Juice makes great waxes they offer a full line of soft waxes and hard waxes for light colored vehicles and dark colored vehicles. The Supernatural is there best wax. Dodo Juice does offer 30 ml. sample size jars of there waxes. This is a great way to sample there wax.

Holy crap, Autogeek is here too.

Seriously though, at the very least, the Dodo waxes offer amazingly good durability, especially for being beauty carnauba waxes.

Durability? Really? compared to what? I never got more than a few weeks out of any of them and that was just with weekly washes with DG. My gripe with them is that the consistancy of some like Light Fantastic is like peanut butter, the cheap kind and Blue Velvet was like clumpy goo. I've got my tried and true carnubas that I use occasionally, like Megs 16, Blackfire Midnight Sun (think Souveran with duribilty) CG's 50-50 and Pete's 53. But 99% of the time I'm reaching for Blackfire Wet Diamond, and yes, tried Zaino and wouldn't go back if it was free.

as far as im concerned i dont see too much point in paying any more than $50 for a wax in any form regardless of how its made or what concentration it is listed at etc ...

anything between $30 and $60 should be sufficient in quality at least 90% of your detailing requirements ...

I am using P21s concours look paste wax and it does a pretty good job so far .

waxing is only as good as the paint prep work done before hand to achieve picture perfect results ...

EG. a $100 wax will not look like $100 if you cut corners in your prep work .. etc
