Two bucket washing? - 09-27-2007, 06:15 PM

Do most of you use the 2 bucket method when washing?
One for the wash water, one for rinsing your wash mitt.

I used 2 buckets for years, but one was for wheels, tires, wheel wells, not to rinse the wash mitt.
I then tried the rinse bucket as what was actually my third bucket and decided it wasn't really worth the effort for me.
Since I now use mostly Spray & Wipe or the DP Rinseless wash it has become a moot point. I do use two buckets with the rinseless wash.
About the only time I do a conventional bucket wash is when I do the wheels and whell wells. One bucket.

I use 2 for washing (rinse one with a grit guard) and one for wheels and wells just like you.

I use one bucket for the wheel, tires, and wheel wheels with the grit guard.

I use to use the "two bucket" wash method. Now, I only use one with a grit guard for washing the paint. I'm such a fanatic about rinsing the mitts (I use at least two on the paint) after each panel, that I really don't need the extra bucket, especially with the grit guard. However, now that I think about it, I probably use more water rinsing after each panel than I use two with the two buckets.

Maybe I should go back to the two bucket method and conserve some water. Then again, I would still rinse the mitt after each panel and end up using even MORE water.

If the vehicle is really dirty, I usually go through a couple of buckets of wash, and a whole lot of mitts.

I do 2 buckets also, but only because its highly recommended here otherwise I don't think one bucket method would hurt my paint since I never give the car a chance to get dirty, the car almost always has a light layer of dust when I wash it.

I use "more than 2" bucket method. One with the wash solution and a couple for mitt rinsing.

I don't believe in grit guards.

I been using the "2 Bucket Method" plus another bucket for wheels and tires. I will agree with you in that it can be a pain sometimes to use this method, and I occasionally skimp out if its my wifes van , but if a clients vehicle then thats the way I wash.

I do a thorough wash on my wheels first and use one bucket for them. I then rinse out that bucket and use the 2 bucket method to wash my vehicle. I do find that it is helpful to me by getting rid of any debris that might be on the mitt that I use.

I just washed my car using Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine ,I should have used the "2 bucket method",but I followed the instruction on the bottle and this is what was left on the bottom (used a single bucket):

I'm with B. Peppers and Rayota - more than two buckets but no more than 4. My car is black, I'll stop there.
