Real Good Electrical Cords?? - 08-21-2007, 11:17 PM

I'm in need of replacing two of my electrical cords...For my use I can get away with the 25 to 50 footers or there about...

What are the good brands?......price is a concern, but I'm a quality guy...after all I use PB stuff Sorry Steve

I have looked at Orchard, Lowes, HD and they all look good...as you know price is not always the best!

I don't want the ones that get all twisted...or will break at the connectors after a year or so...

Is there also something that I can get to roll them back up into or on?

I also do not want the ones the attach to the ceiling in the roll back thing..have used it and don't care for them!

Little help here please and thanks a lot

Woods electrical cords are great quality.

I always get their 12 gauge, 15 amp rated, 100 foot cord. My pressure washer and steam cleaner need the heavier duty cord but if your just using it for your buffer or vacuum you can user a lighter gauge.

I got one of these WonderWinders for Christmas:

Eastwood Co. - WonderWinder Electrical Cord Organizer

They look kind of funky, but I really like it....... one of those things I'd buy again. I use a heavier gauge extension cord so mine only holds ~100' of cord.

I know i use quality cords too

I don't know the name brands, but i certainly look for contractor grade tools when i buy them. They usually last longer and take better abuse. Never liked the wind up thingys, just hand and elbow

Steve, I do the H&E thing as well and I do think that also contributes to the twisting of the cord

That cord organizer is kind of neat. I wonder how good it works. I would be inclinded to get one I wonder how often it gets tangled or locked up.

What ever you buy just make sure its 12 gauge wire if you can find it 10 gauge is better I make up my own cables and use only 20 amp twist lock connectors then I know there will never be a problem and btw I have a adaptor for the twist locks to straight blade 20 amp plugs
