Duragloss Tire and Mat Dressing

Anybody try this product? It says it's a synthetic polymer and contains something called "Rain Repel". I would like to find something to treat external trim pieces that lasts for more than one wash or rain. Most of the typical water based white milky dressings just aren't durable.

Well I decided to pick some of this up last week at Carquest when I was over the border. Today I washed the car and gave it a coat of Insulator Wax and decided to try the Duragloss Tire and Mat Dressing. I like this stuff! It says it's synthetic polymer based. It looks very similar to the white milky dressings that are water based. It also contains something called Rain Repel that is supposed to make this stuff water resistant. I used it on the black plastic between the hood and windshield were the wipers sit.

This stuff applies very nicely. I sprayed it into a MF towel and used my finger in side the towel to spread it on the plastic piece. This product does not leave a gloss but it's not matte either. This stuff leaves the plastic a very deep black but not in a glossy way. It darkens the black way too much to be described as matte. According to the instructions you do not buff, just let dry to a durable finish. I was skeptical about this but tried it any way and sure enough it dried even and streak free. If it holds up longer than the other trim dressings I have used I have found my knew favorite trim dressing. I will try this in the engine next on all the plastic in there. Even it it's no more durable than the other products I still like if for it's ease of use and super dark black look.

Just a word about Carquest. When I went in there looking for this all they had were little spray bottles of it. I asked the sales associate if they carried bigger bottles and if they were just out of stock. He said no that's the only size they stock regularly but that he could get me a bigger size no problems if he ordered it. I told him I was only over the border for the day and didn't know when I would be back. This was about 9.30 AM. He says no problem I can have it here by lunch hour. He orders me the bigger 19 Oz bottle and it's there buy noon like he said it would be. These guys can get you stuff same day if you are early enough and they put the order in before the trucks leave the warehouse.

No. I use and like Mothers FX Tire Shine. I might try it on the tires if it proves to be really durable on the plastic piece.

So far I like the Duragloss products that I've used although I haven't tried this one. I'd be interested in seeing what happens to the trim when it rains. My PB trim restore looks great but it streaks the side of the car sometimes, especially if I apply it too heavy or don't buff it off enough.

Anthony..it is a awesome dressing...just stays on..lol..looks great on tires...and makes a super engine detail spray....

it has not streaked in the rain on me yet..and I have had a ton of rain so far....

also the Duragloss UD (Vinyl & Leather Dressing) is nice on textured trim...leaves a nice finish...like a new look finish..but 1 downfall..it smells like french whore...a channel #5 type scent..but goes aways fast...I use that on my mirrors and my grille as those get the best beating while driving...been on 3 weeks now and still looks like it was just put on....

It is made for inside...but the chemist told me it is fine for outside trim...

Did you buff the Tire and Mat dressing or just apply and let it dry?

How come you don't use the Tire and Mat dressing on the textured trim? That's what I used it on today and it looks great. If it holds up as well as you say than I'm set.

I do not buff it...it has a nice look as is...more coats more gloss if that's what any one is after...

I use the vinyl leather dressing on the mirrors and grille only..the rest of the trim gets the tire matt dressing....I wanted to see what the vinyl dressing looked like on the mirrors..I like it and it is like a sealant and not a dressing..dries fast and not greasy ..no streaks..and stays looking good for weeks...just smell like like purfume...but has a real nice look to it

I got a 19oz free..so it will last me a long time...lol...
