    07 Pontiac G6 Paint Correction

I spent the better part of last week working on this car for a dealership. It had obviously had a very rough life, and was unsellable in its current condition. I wanted to wetsand some areas, but it was a 80k mile 2007, and perfection wasn`t going to be the goal with this one. It looked bad outside, but once the car was inside and under the halogens, the damage was clear.

Decon was done with a Speedy Prep Towel and HD Touch, then the car was masked off.

The first thing I addressed was the smaller areas around the car. Headlight, taillights, tight areas on the body, etc. This was done with my Dewalt 849x outfitted with a 3 inch backing plate and LC pads. Optimum Hyper Compound was the weapon of choice for this car as well.

Once all of the small sections had been compounded, I switched to a 6.5 inch Buff n Shine mf cutting pad on the rotary for the rest of the car.

Once I had removed all of the defects possible, I went with a 5.5 inch Buff n Shine mf finishing pad on the rotary with Optimum Hyper Polish. Usually I would have finished with the GG6, but it was leaving pigtails in the soft black paint.
After several IPA wipedowns, a coat of Car Brite Paint Sealant was applied. This stuff is old school, but is still to this day one of the most durable and easy to use sealants on the market. Tires were dressed with Hyper Dressing, the interior was dressed as well, along with all of the areas visable when the drop top was down.

Got back to the dealership and got the top up just in time for it to start raining.

Total time in this one was 25 hours start to finish.
    Thanks for looking

great recovery and turn around! You think something was embedded in the pad to cause the pigtail?

Every pad I tried on the DA did it. The clear was super soft and I think that had a lot to do with it. It was that sneeze and scratch black that even mega plush towels marred.

Thanks. It was a very difficult and aggravating car to work on. Thr B&S cutting pads work really well on a rotary, but the smaller finishing pads are a little grabby. Both still work well, but it takes some getting used to.
