Black Ford Fiesta ;), paint correction

This weekend, I dealt with two years old Ford Fiesta, with a deep black metallic paint. In accordance with the owner’s wishes I did not touch the interior of the vehicle (except for windows and door bays), which gave me more time to work on the paint. The car was very thoroughly washed, paint corrected and at the end all external components were properly protected.

This time I would like to describe a little more about all the steps that are necessary and thus show that a proper auto detailing is really quite complicated and time-consuming process. Here we go

Washing the car, about five hours:

    • Step 1, clean rims, wheel covers and tires. Chemical Guys Sticky Gel 1:3, Meguiar’s APC 1:4 and 1:2. One hour.

Step 2, pre-wash, in order to soften the dirt as much as possible, and very, very thorough rinsing with a pressure washer. Mix of ValetPro Citrus Pre Wash (150ml), Chemical Guys Strong Wash (100ml), water (750ml). 30 minutes.

Step 3, proper washing of all nooks and crannies and body. Meguiar’s APC 1:4, Chemical Guys Strong Wash 100ml to 15l of water, various brushes and gloves. One hour.

Step 4, the removal of metal contaminants. Chemical Guys D-con distributed around the car with a soft sponge and then thoroughly rinsed. 30 minutes.

Step 5, the removal of tar, asphalt, etc. Prickbort MAC124 distributed around the car with a soft sponge and then thoroughly rinsed. 30 minutes.

Step 6, the clay. Bilt-Hamber Medium Clay and water. One hour.

Step 7, the application of strong active foam to get rid of all traces of the products used in the previous steps. Valet Pro Advanced Neutral Snow Foam 300ml using a snow foam lance. 15 minutes.

Step 8, the very precise drying with towels and Metro Master Blaster. 30 minutes.

Correction of paint, about 11 hours:

    • Step 9, thorough inspection of the paint. 30 minutes.

Step 10, the choice of paint correction method (test spot). This time I was lucky and on the third try, I found adequate combination. Meguiar’s D300, Chemical Guys optics black microfiber polishing pad, Dodo Juice Supernatural Micro Prime, Chemical Guys Hex-Logic black pad, Flex 3401. One hour.

Step 11, removing swirls and scratches. Very small sections, max. 40cm to 40cm. 5-6 section passes. 6 hours.

      Step 12, finishing. Medium-sized sections, max. 60cm to 60cm, 4-5 section passes. 3 hours.

Step 13, cleaning from residues and final inspection of the paint (searching for holograms). CarPro Eraser, different types of lights, camera with flash. 30 minutes.

Details and finish, about 4.5 hours:

    • Step 14, the first layer of wax on the paint, rims and hubcaps. Collinite 476s. 45 minutes.

Step 15, the removal of excess wax. 20 minutes.

Step 16, a thorough cleaning (washing, polishing, wiping with IPA) windows. 4nano Glass Shine, Zaino Z-12 Clear View Glass Polish, IPA. 45 minutes.

Step 17, the protection for windows, lights, plastics, seals and chrome. Chemical Guys Jetseal 109, 303 Areospace Protectant. 40 minutes.

Step 18, clearing and securing the door bays. Meguiar’s APC 1:4, Chemical Guys Extreme All-in-One. 30 minutes.

Step 19, the second layer of wax on the paint, rims and hubcaps. Collinite 476s. 45 minutes.

Step 20, the removal of excess wax. 20 minutes.

Step 21, the tires. Meguiar’s High Gloss Tyre Gel. 10 minutes.

Step 22, wash the plates. Meguiar’s APC 1:4. 5 minutes.

Step 23, final wipe. ShinyGarage Almond Quick Detailer. 10 minutes.

Finally, I invite you to see some photos and videos.

Upon arrival to the Auto Spa.
