Aston Martin in custom Ferrari TDF Blue.

This is a gorgeous Aston Martin that I polished a little while ago. The car was custom painted TDF Blu (a Ferrari color) at the Aston factory.

Apparently I didn`t take any before photos although the car had moderate swirl marks and some deeper defects. The paint was polished using Meguiar`s M105 on a Meguiar`s microfiber cutting disk, followed by Menzerna PO85rd on a Meguiar`s microfiber finishing disk. This was topped with two coats of Blackfire Wet Diamond and finished with a coat of Blackfire Midnight Sun Batch 25. The tires were dressed with Meguiar`s M40.

Todd nice work as always. The paint looks dripping wet. Are you sure that it isn`t gonna just slide off of the car?

I see you used 105 with the MF. I havent tried it yet. Have used Perfect it 2 and po83. The only problem is I think the oils slow the cut a little in the 83 on the MF vrS foam.

You had the hood up and you didn`t give us the obligatory engine shot? Something wrong with priorities today, I`m truly disappointed. Nice work. That is an amazing blue, one of my Mach 1`s very nearly matched that color. It is my favorite even today.

I have used diminishing abrasive polishes (such as PO83) with microfiber and have gotten really good results (provided I am cleaning the pad after every application). I think, with the increased surface area of the microfiber, you are getting a lot of abrasive breakdown right off the bat, but once they have broken down you have a lot of extremely fine/exhausted abrasives sticking to the microfiber.

M105 on the microfiber has (IME) cut more than D300 but it will dust more and it will not leave as nice of a finish. However the finish is still nice enough (provided that the pad is kept clean) that it usually only requires a brief finishing polish to make perfect.

M105 does dust more than D300 on the MF cutting pad.... but M105/MF dusts a lot less than M105/Foam does!

Thanks for the info. I noticed how nice the finish was. I had to ask. Ive used the po85 and 106fa with great results just not M105.
