I have used diminishing abrasive polishes (such as PO83) with microfiber and have gotten really good results (provided I am cleaning the pad after every application). I think, with the increased surface area of the microfiber, you are getting a lot of abrasive breakdown right off the bat, but once they have broken down you have a lot of extremely fine/exhausted abrasives sticking to the microfiber.
M105 on the microfiber has (IME) cut more than D300 but it will dust more and it will not leave as nice of a finish. However the finish is still nice enough (provided that the pad is kept clean) that it usually only requires a brief finishing polish to make perfect.
