Cleaned up the MG - 08-11-2010, 11:00 PM

I'm not one for the "look at me and my shiny car!" A.W. posts, but I thought I'd put one up. The insurance company wanted pictures of the wifey's 1970 MGB, so I figured to give it a quick detail. Due to the high heat, large highways and huge pickup trucks, we don't drive it much. I gave it a quick wash to remove the dust and hit it with some Menzerna polish. I did a coat of Black Hole and topped it with the obvious choice, Natty's Red. I figured the original Natty's would turn it pink and Natty's Blue would turn it purple. Red made perfect sense.

I still need to get it inspected and maybe we can take it out for a spin one night. I just wanted to share the pretty little thing you folks.

Thanks for posting the pics, Scott!! It's still a great looking car!!

But why do you "B" owners always think it's an "off-road" vehicle??

And "Mrs. Scott P." . . .

Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you've got til it's gone?

Looks great. How long do those wire wheels take?

I like beer. On occasion I will even drink a beer to celebrate a major event such as the fall of communism or the fact that our refrigerator is still working.

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but that car was one of 2 cars I remember lusting after in H.S. (the other being a '57 T-Bird - the Triumph TR6 was in that mix as well). My freshman year at college a girl I knew from Jr. High showed up on campus with that car (color and all - but it could have been a '69). I asked her for the opportunity to drive it (with her in the passenger seat of course) and she let me. I loved it! Anyway thanks for the memories.

Nice work and love the car...way cool

Those wire wheels bring back memories of all the MB rims I cleaned back in the 70's...I use to get this two stage cleaner, acid based and paint brushes to get in the spokes...of course the acid ruined the brushes in a few uses...In hated those rims...LOL

Norah...MG owners park their cars in the grass so parts have a soft landing when they randomly fall off.

Stephan...Those wheels take quite a bit of time. Luckily the car is garaged, so the wheels don't see a lot of dirt. I haven't found an easy way to really polish them yet.

Senor Clean...The wifey and her father actually restored the car some 15 plus years ago. He likes to joke how she brought it home for $500 because she thought it was cute and he spent thousands of dollars restoring it it.

My helper made sure the lawn didn't get up and attack me by holding it down. It's one of his favorite jobs.

The chrome wire wheels do really change the look of the car. They look so much nicer than the stock painted ones.

A large dose of truth there, no doubt. My Dad loved the car as well, but the costs associated with keeping that car on the road was off-putting. I was too young to worry about such mundane issues. I envisioned myself as future star SCCA road racer.
