2008 VW R32, paint correction only.
The owner recently purchased this car out of state. It has about 45,000 miles on the clock and the paint was in pretty rough shape. Upon inspection you could see heavy cob-webbing and a few noticeable RIDS. The owner and I talked about different options and we opted for a 2-step correction, which was in his budget and I felt should reach his desired goal of 90-95% correction. I had also offered to spot hit the RIDS with M105 and then planned to do the whole car with SIP and PO85RD via the rotary. After doing a few test spots the webbing was easily removed by SIP, but it reveled more of the deeper scratches, which would not come out without several passes of SIP. My OCD got the best of me and I went ahead and did a 3-step correction. I phoned the customer and said I was unhappy with the amount of correction I was getting with my planned process and that I was going to do the extra step at no extra charge. With the below process I felt I easily achieved 95% correction, if not more.
Process:
Wash – Meguiars Gold Class using the 2BM
Wheels –
P21S gel and various brushes, ZAIO, Opti-Seal
Tires – Amazing Roll Off, Hyper Dressing 3:1
Clay – Meguiars Mild Clay, Last Touch (Owner had recently clayed and the car didn’t need much claying)
Trim – Meguiars Ultimate Protectant (Lab Sample P)
Glass – Meguiars D120
Headlamps - M105/M205/ZAIO
Taillights – M205/ZAIO
Door shuts – ZAIO (M105/M205 on the rockers)
Correction step 1- M105 via rotary and wool pad
Correction step 2 – M105 via PCXP and Cyan LC Hydro pad
Correction step 3 – M205 via PCXP and Tangerine LC Hydro pad
LSP – Blackfire Wet-Diamond
