LI Detailers :: And The 2009 Dirtiest Car Award Goes To... - 10-17-2009, 12:32 PM

This customer was looking for a polish and the car to be cleaned up. He was in florida working and the car was sitting at his families house for 3 years. He said it was being used so I figure how bad could it be.. Boy was I wrong.. The car was FILTHY and stunk to the high heavens. I wound up throwing away all of my clothes and towels / wash mitt used on this car. It took me 3 hours just to wash the car and 6 hours for the whole process. The family had no idea he didnt tell me it was in this condition and asked if I wanted to leave (I should have lol). All in all the customer received a Wash, clay and wax on the interior and I substituted the polish for a carpet extraction on the interior. The leather on the car was so cracked and torn that it looks permanently dirty.

I take it they were happy, that was nasty. Let me ask this question.....would that be a situation where a foam gun filled with a mix of apc and soap would have paid for itself just to loosen up all that yuck? Good job on the car.

Fantastic.

Was there any clear coat failure under all that stuff? Also might try selling them a headlight cleaning. They definitely could use some love.

Thanks everyone! This was by far the worst vehicle I have done to date. The pay was horrible for what I did so after making minimal improvements on the completely scuffed and cracked leather as well as some stubborn stains I gave up. They were happy though.

I mixed in CG Citrus Wash & Gloss and Megs APC in the foamer for this and it worked well. I mean I still had to SCRUB a lot of crap off as it has been like that for 3 years. I was surprised to see it start to be honest lol.

Actually no. The paint was pretty dull and could of definitely used a good polish but the customer did not want to spend much and clearly does not care about his car. Normally if a person appreciates there car and respects the job I will do the headlights out of courtesy or for a smaller fee than usual but this guy was not getting any special attention at all lol.
