2009 Corvette - Black

I went to the owner’s house this past Sunday to look at the car and discuss what the owner was looking to have done. The sun was partially out and I did notice some swirls etc, but nothing like I expected when I got the car in the garage and under the lights. The owner definitely had me nervous as he has done his research and is a very much OCD with his car as we are all on this site. The car came to me clean except dust.

This was my most challenging and most rewarding detail I have done to date, especially after the owner told me of his approval at the time of pick up.

Here we go – paint work only - total time was about 17 hours.

PB’s S&W
Ricardo yellow clay using PB’s S&W mixed 50:50 with water

It took me about 45 minutes to find the right product and pad combo. I tried PB’s SSR2 with white ccs, then PB’s 2.5 with white ccs, then PB’s 2.5 with orange ccs and then M105 with orange ccs. The M105 combo was the ticket.

Correction – After polishing the driver’s side, I called the customer to have him come out and look at what has been done. This was done to make sure we both agree on the correction work being accomplished (and also to help ease my nerves and mind)

Flex – M105 – LC CCS orange light cut pad x 2 and some places I hit it 3 times
Finishing polish was PB’s Pro Polish with LC CCS white polishing pad (worked as long as it would go)

PB’s Black Hole applied by PC – grey LC CCS pad

4* UPP – 2 coats applied by hand with foam applicator pad

Correction photos – Pictures were taken after the completion of M105. There are more, but I think 16 are enough to show you guys

Looks good Awesome car but if the owner is so particular how did a 2009 get so scratched looks like someone needs to tell him how to wash it properly.

Detailing a BLACK car separates the men from the boys.

Nice work on getting all that marring out. I just don't understand how folks with a nice, 2009 model car can have it looking like the befores. Then again, I am probably noticing things that 98% of the populous are not.

The owner is learning his way through the proper maintenance of his car. At his house, we talked about proper care. He has the 2 bucket method going. He had some MF wash mitts, quick detailers and MF towels. He had just received an order from Zaino that had a sheepskin wash mitt, gloss enhancer and some new mf towels. I showed him some of my DMT towels from Poorboys and some new Cobra towels I got from Troy. We spoke about PB's S&W. I think he has a great understanding of the proper maintenance and I am positive he will do his best to properly maintain it.

Hello All, man oh man I thought the "roughing up" on the corvette forum was tough...

I just want to say -

First "THANK YOU" to Trent he did an incredible job!!

Now - I know you guys beat me up on washing and waxing however... I have a sense for taking care of a vehicle. I was using two bucket method... MF wash mitt, carnuba wax/detailer... with MF towels... I have invested in better quality MF's and better products from Zaino. I purchased the car in July and it wasn't driven in the rain and was garage kept. Now I did 3 washes and three waxes with Megauiar's NXT 2.0 and most of the swirls and scratches were not evident in normal lighting. I don't know how many folks look at their cars under Halogen lights on a daily basis. Who knows how long the car sat on the dealers lot and how many times the dealership touched the car before I got it. I, myself, couldn't believe what the proper lighting revealed and Trent was surprised as well since it didn't look that way under natural lighting. Everyone that has seen the photos couldn't believe what they saw as well.

Anyway - Trent is the MAN and he did an excellent job and one of my corvette buddies has said he will be getting in touch with Trent to do some detailing on his car in the future.

Yea, the rag pushers that some to the lots and do a rinse and shammy down only see the $$. Do they care if there is dried up bird dropping on a black car? Nah, they just wet it and rub it with a little elbow grease to get it off. LOL.

Nice to see you came to the site. Very nice car indeed. Very informative folks around here. You have to watch out for Troy, he's a weird one I tell ya.
