    Poorboy`s detail - 2000 Ford Windstar Van

I work with a gentleman who wanted me to clean up his van. We are always battling each other as to whose car is the cleanest. Of course, he knows mine is always the cleanest, because of the Poorboy’s treatment it receives. LOL.

Here is his Poorboy’s treatment process:

    Wash - SS&S – 2 bucket method
Clay – PB’s clay and Spray and Wipe 50:50 mix with water
SSR 2.5 – LC CCS orange cut pad
SSR 1- LC CCS white polishing pad
PwC – LC CCS white polishing pad - roof of van
EX – 1 coat - microfiber applicator dampened with water

    Tires – B&B

Headlights – SSR 2.5 – 4” LC CCS orange cut pad, SSR 1 4” LC CCS white polishing pad, PwC – DMT.

Note: the before and after pictures on swirls are after the SSR2.5 and before SSR1. Yes – I know it is not perfect, but it was a big improvement. I’m getting there.

    Before and after

Misc pictures at home and work

    Thanks for looking

Looking good! I love the PB stuff too. I`ve never used the EX.

I think you did a darn good job on those swirls! I wonder how the new White Diamond would have done in covering up the minor ones left.

    Good job!

I agree ..nice job.. it`s not realistic to put halogens that close and not see anything....another pass or two with the SSR2.5 and the orange pad could have done much more swirl removal ..
White Diamond definitely would have helped to hide more.

Great work, both the detail and pictures. I haven`t seen before and after`s that close in a long time, did you use a tripod? It is great for documenting work that way, it shows true results in the exact same conditions. While it isn`t perfect (it`s a van ), the difference is very noticeable and job well done.

Very well documented detail. Corrective work is hard to get a complete finish. Keep using proper washing, drying, and prep techiques and the next time you polish you will see even better results than you have shown in your post.

    Congratulations on a good job!!

Well, that has to be the most pimped out minivan I have ever seen. Taillight covers, dual exhaust, aftermarket fog lamps... It looks like you did a good job on it. I am working over a Ford myself, and I would venture to say that the silver paint on that one has more depth than what I am getting right now on a darker color. Nice work.
I still don`t believe in grit guards.

Thanks guys - The owner of the van is retired but works part time with me. He really does like his van, - (Even more now after Poorboy`s)
He went out yesterday and bought a new plastic license plate cover because his last one was all yellowed out.

My mistake on the before/after pictures was that I did not complete the areas with SSR 1 and then take another photo after that to see how the finish would end up. I will do that on my next detail.

Budman - I did not use a tripod. I previewed the before picture adn the tried to replicate the after picture.

Question, Do you most of do the all paint correction on each panel and then move to the next panel? What I did on the van was do the entire vehicle first with SSR2.5 and then went back and did the van with SSR1. Is that the wrong way to do it?

I hear ya Steve - I am putting together an order to restock my supplies - will try the WD and BH

Usually i will go over each section as many times as needed with the SSR2.5 before moving to the next panel, but would do the whole vehicle with the SSR2.5 before moving to SSR1

Very nice work there Trent. You are getting the hang of things with the swirl removal.

Yeah - Thanks for the help. Steve also said another pass (ot two) with SSR 2.5 would be better..

I found that some fords need at least 2 or 3 passes to be perfect. I did one like the one you did and it took 2 passes with SIP and 1 pass with 106FF to be perfect. And that`s with a UDM........
