Cleaning the Meguiar's Double Sided 100% Wool Cutting Pad
The best way to clean or remove built-up compound and polish residue as well as removed paint from a wool cutting pad is to use a pad washer. Currently there are two models of pad washers on the market, the
Autogeek System 2000 Pad Washer and the
Grit Guard Universal Pad Washer. Bot have unique design features and benefits.
The Lake Country System 2000 Pad Washer
This pad washer works with rotary buffers for cleaning either wool or foam buffing pads. It uses a 9 plastic gears, one of which is also a water pump to inject cleaning solution into the face of the buffing pad to help loosen and remove residues off the pad. Eight other plastic gears act to gently agitate and loosen product as well as fluff the yarn fibers of wool buffing pads.
If you look in the pictures below you'll see a gray colored larger gear separate from the smaller black gears. The holes you see in the gray gear act to bring water to the face of the pad when you place the buffing pad against the gear and bring up the RPM's of the buffer..
The Meguiar's W5000 Double Sided Wool Cutting Pad is a very thick pad and as such there was not enough vertical empty space inside the bucket to wash and then sling out any excess cleaning solution left in the pad. A perusal of the directions that come with the pad washer state you can adjust the legs on the base to increase or decrease the hight of the pad cleaning plate to accommodate different thicknesses in pads.
If you find that your pads are too thick for the factory preset hight, go retrieve the directions out of the wastepaper basket as they will tell you what I'm about to show you.
The legs between the base and the pad cleaning table are adjustable, all you need is s Phillips Screwdriver.
Once you remove the screw on the outside you can then slide the leg up into the slot to a higher level to lower the pad cleaning plate further down into the bucket.
