My Family's First Monster Jam - 02-22-2009, 11:33 AM

Yesterday I took my daughters to the Monster Jam in Tampa. It was our first Monster Jam and it was a blast.

We got there around 4pm for the Pit Party. Took some pics with the trucks and the girls got a few autographs. They have a truck you can ride in but we were too late for that.

Here's some pics from the Pit Party -

It takes a lot of tire dressing

Bekah had a thing about smelling the tires.

The Escalade was the girls favorite. They just thought he was too cool.

Once we got in the stadium they had a minivan demolition derby which wasn't all that exciting because they were too restricted -

Some sky divers parachuted in. They were all in black so they didn't show until they were just above the stadium-

Here we were with our friends dealing with the brutal Florida winter weather -

Lights went down and the trucks were introduced -

GunSlinger (Florida Truck) won the races which had a lot of close heats. After the races came an intermission show of motocross stunts. These guys are crazy. One guy fell off his bike in mid-air but seemed to be ok.

Then the freestyle -

Taz won the freestyle. Maximum Destruction was a bit of a dissapointment but the show over all was pretty awesome. It was our first but we talked to some die hard fans and they said this one was the best they had seen. Almost every truck was on it's back or missing a wheel at one point or another.

This made me want to go see motocross racing which I have yet to do. It's on my bucket list now though.

That's cool.
You should try getting the tire dressing concession. You could retire quick.

Monster Jam seems to be getting worse and worse in New York. It used to be dirt and have all kinds of things going on but now its just on concrete and not much going on at all. Just a few short races and a "cyclone competition"..which consists of about one donut per truck which is not too exciting.
