B-N-B on new tires

I hated the Goodyear tires on my Ranger and after I got then half worn I decided to get rid of them,

I cleaned the new tires with APC then 2 coats of PB Bold N Bright
What a difference it drives like new again.

What Goodyears did you have? I just put a new set of Eagles on my old truck and like them pretty well. But to be fair I went from 285/55 drag radials on the back to a 255/55 street tire so of course the ride is better anyway.

They were Wrangler RTS or something like that.
They sucked in the snow and when they started cupping I got rid of them.
Some tires will do that on a 4X4.
I would not have bought them but they were on the truck when I bought it.
Years ago I had a lot of problems with Goodyear tires but what really did it for me was when I had 4 new Wranglers on my Bronco and one was shaped like a football.

I went to my local Goodyear store and told them, The manager was a woman she said lets go look at them so we walk outside and she ask which car is yours.
I said the Bronco and she said well that is the problem,

I said what is the problem and she said our tires do that every time when you put them on a Ford.

I came home and put the 4 new Badyears on my tandem trailer and bought new tires for the Bronco.

I now have Michelin's on my Explorer and the Ranger when the Focus needs tires it will get a set of Michelin's also.

I've never liked Good Year tires...always rode crappy and wore bad.

My buddy at the wheel place I always shop sold me on some Riken tires for our Mustang and those things rock! Some of the best damn tires I've ever owned. They stick and have lasted quite a long time, plus the sidewall is nice and clean...none of the goofy design crap like there is on all of these new tires now.

I have to say I also like Hankook tires. Just put a set of those on the 20's on our Mariner and man are they nice. They stick nice in the wet weather and are quiet as well. Don't much care for the sidewalls but the ride is excellent.

While I'm commenting...Toyos are nice and Sumitomos grip extremely well, but neither last/wear very long at all.

The government has a standardized test for tire wear.
The higher the number the longer they will wear.

The Goodyear like mine was rated at 320 and my Michelin's are 720.
Some make their tire last longer by making the rubber hard.
They will wear good but no traction.

Michelin adds more tread for long life.
Kinda like the old saying you get what you pay for. You buy cheap you get cheap.

My new car came with Kumho tires I expect to change them before 20,000 miles

Mother-In-Law has 120,000 miles on a set of LTX's on her 2000 Silverado. They have a third of their tread left and she thought about buying a new set, but instead she just wants a new truck. Those tires have more plugs and patches in them than I can count. She runs over a lot of stuff down in Houston and those shoes keep coming back for more.

At this point, I have decided that in my life, if Michelin makes an LTX in a size that will fit a vehicle I'm operating, I will either buy a $20-$40 used tire to get by or the vehicle gets a set of LTX's. There is no other tire as far as I'm concerned.

I now have them on my Ranger but NJ Carting is referring to the LTX-AS I have the LTX-M\S they have a more aggressive thread than the A\S tire.

What I have works better in our northern Indiana winters it runs quit but has good traction in the snow especially with 4 wheel dive like mine has.
